Im tired of hearing I'm black so im voting democratic." WTF. Im baffled at why most african americans think Kerry is the solution. And im tired of saying Bush isn't looking out for the minorit. You guys would rather want a Pres. who switches sides about war and other political issues when the majority favors it? I'd rather have a President who makes a decisions and rides out with his objective until it is met. (IRAQ) Wake up and open your eyes. What yall think about that?
First, I don't many people have viewed this post. I mean it says that only 11 people have viewed it. Maybe people are sick of hearing about Bush and Kerry and all the drama that is associated with it. And just because people have not replied to this post, does not neccesarily mean that they don't care. I don't think you should group all people together like that.
I agree with the fact that people should not vote for Kerry solely because he is the Democratic candidate. I believe they should vote for him because of his stance on the issues. But let's get serious, a lot of people are voting for Kerry because they believe Bush has had his chance (4 years) to prove himself and has not done anything of the sort. Mind you, Bush had us go in Afghanistan in order to find Osama...it has been 3 years and we still have not caught him. He took us to Iraq to find supposed weapons of mass destruction....and still has not found them. I understand Mr. Bush was thinking from the view point of get them before they get you, but nothing has happened. Yes, Saddam is out of power and now Bush is trying to somewhat deceive the American people by saying our troops are in still in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (or whatever he chooses to call it).
I have also had several friends who have stated they were not going to vote because the issues did not directly effect them. I could not believe this because I felt this is the most important decision in our lives. Needless to say, after talking with them they are now registered to vote. I think if you have the attitude that people will not get out to vote..then what are you doing to change that? People like P. Diddy are not neccesarily telling the people which candidate to vote for, he is just encouraging people to vote so that they feel their voices can be heard and so they can make a difference. I think the effort is one that should be commended and it is also increasing the amount of registered voters of our generation. They are using MTV and BET because they know many young people between the age groups of 18-24 watch the channels and it is a good way to allow a message to get reached by thousands of people.
I think the only thing you can do in this situation is to make sure that your voice is heard and you vote for the candidate which best suits you.
True you defended your opinions well. But say Kerry goes to office you can't just have someone who isn't faimiar with the details about the war in Iraq. Kerry is against it and when he goers to office he has plans on ending it. You can't just withdraw the foundation of a fragile nation that is in the state of rebuilding. Think of the added chaos and pressure that is added to the people of Iraq. Bush is best for America and the rest o the world.
Yea Bush went to Afghanistan to find Osama and came up empty. But he did greatly weaken the ****and the groups that support him. It is also obvious that Osama is no longer effective or alive. I mean everyone has their opinions and your definitly entitled to yours.
I also do support P. Diddy's and MTv, and BEt and Hot 97 effots. What I'm tryin to say is our generation is more concerned with the fads and trends. (just like Kerry) I know they're not persuading to vote, but the attitude of voting for Bush and we are all doomed is out there and the stereotypical views of today of voting Democrate benefits african americans all are stacked up against Bush and probably any other Republican canidate in the future.
Im only 17 but as soon as I can I will be voting. Thanks for your input Kia.
you're tired of blacks saying their voting democratic because their black?
i'm tired of blacks saying they went or is planning to attend an HBCU to get away from white people
First of all, my name is Jia. I am just going to assume you made a typo. Lol. I understand everything you are saying...and it's all well and good for you to have your opinions, just as it is all well and good for me to have mine.
Yes, Kerry is against the war in Iraq, but even he knows it would be detrimental to the welfare of Iraq and the Iraqi people if he were just to halt the entire operation. What I think he will do is gradually pull troops out. I don't believe anyone in their right mind would pull all the troops out because there is still unrest as well as violene in that part of the world.
Let's face it, because we haven't heard anything from Osama does not mean he is ****. I believe he is very much alive and is hiding out and there are still active ****cells who are plotting agaisnt America. I know that for a fact.
Saying Bush is best for America and the rest of the world....hmm I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Right now, we have very few allies because Bush thinks he can police the world. When will people stop thinking that it is America's place to police the world? We really need to be careful about how we throw ourselves into wars which one day we may not be able to get out of. If you think about it, our troops are spread way to thin right now to be effective if needed in America. So actually right now, we are extremely vulnerable.
I am only 17 too and I desperately wish I could vote in this election. But please believe that as soon as I turn 18 I will be registering to vote. You go to Hampton right?
I have already voted this year during early voting. (since I am in Florida right now, hopefully my vote will count. We'll pray it does.)
Just because I am black is not the reason I voted for Kerry. I am originally from Texas, born and bred. I have been dealing with G. W. Bush for the last 6 years. In those six years, I have seen over 500,000 people lose jobs (over 20,000 people lost jobs nationwide(12,000 in Texas) in the summer of 2000 because Bush became governor) and all companies went on a freeze. The employees they were going to hire, they didn't. He goes back on his word i.e. he supports education but when it comes time for the budget, education is the first to go.
In Texas, he set up the Top 10% program. The program guarantees admission to any state school where the student is in the top 10% of his class. The advantage of it is that students from smaller towns and cities, not neccessarily minority, get into the likes of University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and minority enrollment is up. The disadvantage the majority of those student have to drop out within 3 years because they don't have the money to finish their education. In the debates, Pres. Bush said that he would increase the amount of money for Pell Grants in re-elected. I pose this question, "How is he going to continue the "war" in Iraq and increase money for Pell Grants?" Something has got to give and it won't be the war.
Bush has some good ideas, but the way he goes about doing them is what hurts him. The only reason Bush went into Afghanistan is because that week after he invaded it, there was a shipment of **** passin through, and the reason he went into Iraq is because of ****. If you remember the Persian Gulf War, it was because Iraq had invaded Kuwait to get their **** and Kuwait was our main supplier of crude ****.
Kerry on the other hand has the backing of the United States Congress, which the president must go through to get money, President Bush really can't say that with confidence. Sometimes they are with him, sometimes they are not. The Congress voted 5 times before Bush actually got that money for war the 1st time and it took more times to vote the 2nd time around. Since I have been living only Ronald Reagan (Rep.) & Bill Clinton(Dem) could say that
Pleas research your candidates and make an informed decision on who u feel is best, whether it be Kerry or Bush, because there is always an underlying motive of what they say and what is shown.
I'm gonna make this a little short because I have class soon. In my opinion America has always "policed" the world. It's not going to change. I understand we're minding the affairs of other countries without their authority but what if we never ever stepped in? Im not going to name the now but there were countless times when without the help of the U.S countries would be in full fledged war for God knows how long.
In a hostile era like now we need a president as firm as Bush. We can't have a passive president who changes his support and opinions the way the weather does.
hhw do you know for a fact Osama is alive? Yeah, his past presence still effects his diminsishing number of supporters. But the teeroists cells that were once flourishing in the middle East are now dropping. Thanks to the affirmative stance Bush has took.
I have class, K....JIA!!
