The Question: What made you come to Howard, and for those who aren't here yet, why do you want to come to Howard?
My Answer: I came cuz I love black people, my parents came and met here and had me not too long after, and I wanted to go to a prestigious HBCU that I knew had a high population of other Caribbean students. Your turn to answer.

awww...a love story. How precious . Wonder if i'll have any luck...hmmm...doubt it :arrow:
I'm at HU becuz i came on a black college tour when i was a sophomore in highschool and out of all the schools we visited, this was the only one that really grabbed my attention. I felt right at home i soon as i stepped on campus. As I did more research, I found that it had everything i was lookin for in my college experience: Located in a busy city, quality education, diversity, an acomplished list of alumni, a growing SOC, etc. Financial difficulties almost didn't let me make it here, but i prayed about it and i stepped out on faith becuz i knew HU was where i was supposed to be.
i came cause of the **** lol....yall think im joking but when i was a senior in highschool and deciding where i wanted to go it was howard or several other GREAT institutions which were PWIs though....but when the **** thing in DC happened of course my town got news of it, but like going through that whole experience i was praying each and every day that the **** would be arrested so i could go to Howard....and like before Howard was like my VERY last choice cause i was brainwashed a bit about how PWIs are better....but every day i would watch the news, and finally the day i gave up and was about to send my acceptance to washington university in st. louis, they arrested the **** and his son...and that was the day i verified i wanted to come to Howard lol.....i guess it was just watching Tv and seeing how people werent panicking and how everyone was just so together in the situation that made me want to go there....yeah im weird like that :lol:
I'm just gonna try to remember my bootleg poem I had to do for the talent show in business orientation this year :lol:
My answer:
I came to howard for a solid education; it is a place where there is no discrimination
The school of business is where I chose to earn my degree;
It is so (forgot the word) that a job after college is a guarantee
Here at howard, everyone is real (or so I thought @ the time)
I am not the only one strugglin to pay for a meal

I decided I wanted to come to Howard when I was about 8 years old. I used to live in St. Louis at the time and that was when the Gateway Classic was between Howard and Mississippi Valley State. Seeing those bands are the reason I picked up an instrument in the first place. Howard impressed me the most so I found out all I could about the school. I didn't even need to see the campus. When the time finally came for me to come to Howard, I came. I just knew that Howard was the place for me, academically, musically, and socially.
In my three years of being at Howard, I know what the real reason of why I came to this institution. I wanted to go to Howard because I knew nothing about Black culture. Before I came, I had no black friends, no sense of black consciousness, or no true understanding for being young, Black, and gifted in America. I was predestined to come to Howard and to be the only college graduate in my family. I knew nothing about black colleges before I came so overall I think the real reason was to escape and discover my true identity.
