Ossie Davis:pay your tributes Posted on 02-05-2005
Afro-American

As you should already know one of our valued alumni passed away, the great Ossie Davis, it hits a whole lot more personally to me because 1-i saw him speak at Howard before he died and 2-he was born RIGHT near my home town and after the talk, we talked ABOUT south Georgia and he inspired me to seek my dreams even though I am from such a rural area.. and 3--ray charles who also came from south georgia again RIGHT near my town also passed.....so its a hard thing for Southwest Georgia right now to have two of our greats die so suddenly so pay your respects here and was wondering if you all would like to personally send your condolences to his widow ruby dee davis by giving a small token of how deep the loss has affected us, i know im going to be mailing a card and a small gift or something, and when i get the mailing info i can certainly post it on here if ya like

He was a beautiful human being that did sooo much for the Black community.... reports say he was found at a hotel and appeared to have passed away from natural causes, so I believe God took him peacefully.. May he rest in peace....
