WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Officials in Florida's Palm Beach County are moving to protect the privacy of thousands of HIV-infected residents.
A confidential list that included the names and addresses of 4,500 **** patients and 2,000 others listed as HIV-positive was accidentally e-mailed to 800 county health workers.
The incident occurred last Thursday when a worker who compiles monthly statistics accidentally attached a file containing the personal information to the document. He realized his mistake moments after the e-mail was sent.
The county's computer technicians were able to shut down the system and remove the files from all but 10 of the outgoing e-mails before they were opened. Officials have reached most of those who received the file and others will be contacted Monday.
State and local health officials are investigating.
As shady as it sounds, I wish they had an **** and other STD list for FAMU, because I hear how ridiculous it's supposed to be here and I just don't believe it.
