I'm currently waitin for my financial aid package from Howard and I wanted to know like the max anybody think they would award, or if anybody received like anywhere around 18 or 19 thousand for their financial aid.

If your parents are eligible for a Plus loan, you can borrow up to the full cost of attendance (tuition + room and board, or tuition + off campus living expense). This depends upon your parents credit eligibility. If not, you can get Direct loans for up to $6,625 your freshman year, $7,500 your sophomore year, and $10,500 your junior and senior year. Hope this helps. Holla!

Good luck with getting 18,000-19,000....the expenses for a private HBCU is like those big **** nats that come out in the summer time...they are a bish :-\...The thing about Private HBCU's is that it's Financial Aid isnt as great as the HUGE State Colleges who get assloads of money....My EFC is Zero...I now qualify as a Independent in the State of Alabama due to my mom's death in October 2004 and TU Financial Aid is still saying they can only give me 65% of what I'm eligible for...even with Football money...i'm 3,000-4,000 short...and I gotta pull loans for this?...I mean hell...I wouldnt have mined if things were running smoothly....but fug that Sh*t....HBCU's are swirling in debt and are struggling...pull the loans if you have to, if you don't like it...you know what to do.
Yea I'll probaly go to chicago state. They a unofficial HBCU. Or just go to the air force. That uncle sam poster be drawin me in man.

Yea thats the only reason I really wanna go is for the experience. I'm sure I could hit up a real nice (seriously its nice) community college get my Associates get a job. Then finish my degree at just any university but I gotta have that experience.

My counselor wanted me to go there alot but I just cant stay instate. Not that its anything wrong w/ the schools, but I'm kinda sheltered and I really need to get out. I was actually plannin to go to VSU initially but Howard drew me in cause they have a wide range of majors which I was havin trouble deciding on, close to family, and the reputation is probaly whats been the most appealing to me. Money as important as it is, somehow wasnt exactly my top priority.
