For all my future and current Hamptonians, Does anyone have any idea what the proper dress is for this day and what the registration is for at the beginning of the day? Also what should I expect? Who should I bring?
good questions... i'm in the same boat as you.. it'll be my first time going to high school day and i'm not quite sure what to expect. but i was just talking to another girl who's also coming in this fall and she went to high school day last year. she said that it's a casual event.. so i'd say the dress could be something like jeans and a nice shirt.. something casual but presentable. she said that there wasn't that great a deal of parents around. she's going with her best friend and i'm thinking about going down with my sister or godsister. she said that if you stay the night at a hotel there were mad parties that night. and for info about what to expect for the day you can go to www.hamptonu.edu/highschoolday.. hope this was helpful.. oh, and i'll probably be seeing you on apr 1st, gurl!
^^^You all are going to like High School Day! There is no dress conde, it's very casual. There's no need to dress to impress....just look presentable. I saw quite a few parents last year, but there were plenty of students who came in large groups with their school mates or tour group. As for your expectations, just expect to see and meet new people......a LOT of people! Try to meet some Hamptonians that are already there is possible.....that way you already know someone there who can give you the inside scoop
Greetings Future Hamptonians and members of the class of Ogre Phi Ogre 13
I am glad to see that you are so eager for High School Day to come. I would like to be among the first to welcome you to "our home by the sea". Hampton is a great school socially, academically and culturally. I remember I was in your shoes a year ago on this site religiously seeking out information on the school. But as far as High School Day, casual attire will be great. Ladies you do not want to wear heels, because you will be walking across campus and the tours generally last about an hour. Oh yea, DO NOT OVER DRESS (YOUR NOT GROWN), lol. But on the real, Hampton is a small school and you can tell who is a student and who isn't by the way you dress. So if you show up over dressed and over processed hair, you are going to stick out like a sore thumb. Just relax, dress comfortably and be prepared to enjoy yourself. There will be vendors and entermainment on site so it will be a good time. Oh yea, if you are having reservations about coming don't worry. You will adjust quickly. I did and I am from Orlando, Florida. I do reccommend that if you an afford to come to the Pre College Program. I did and it made my transition a lot easier and smoother. Oh yea, PLEASE BE SURE TO ASK QUESTIONS. I would hate for your parents to drop a cool 23K for you to come to a school that you do not like. I am not gonna lie. Hampton is NOT for everyone, I repeat, it is NOT for everyone. So be sure to ask questions. If you have any questions I will be more than happy to answer them for you . You can IM @ ORPreppyBoy for AOL or on MSN/Yahoo my screenname is OneEducatedBrothaN04. Aight, I gotta run.....Freshmen Week activities are going on....
Be Blessed and a Blessing,
