HEY, ADMIN!!! Case of the Abducted Posts... Posted on 03-17-2005

P o e t i q R e i g n
Greensboro, NC
there is NO reason this thread should be deleted....because i'm approaching the matter in a civilized and unvulgar (lol) manner.... i'm chattin' it up with a few people from here on AIM....and everybody is scratchin' their heads, tryna figure out who in the world is behind the thread/post-deleting?!? two people think it's the administrator browsing as we speak....and of course there are other speculations... so my question is to the admin...SERIOUSLY....just to put this at rest...are YOU the one who is deleting these threads/topics/posts???? i'm sure no one else will come to surface if it isn't the admin....but being that u R an administrator....i would think you would make yourself known if that really is you doing that.....we just wanna know.... if it isn't u...sorry about the call out....just interested in gettin' 2 the bottom line... so yeah...what's the deal?

Or at least post some rules if folks are breaking em. So that we all can know. It's kinda hard to deal with unwritten laws that only apply in some cases. Cuz just deleting stuff that's personal when it comes to a select few people is silly.

Being an admin or MOD requires using your powers as little as possible, but remaining fair and impartial. No ones likes censorship. But they will respect rules and guidelines. If anything personal threads should be moved to HBCU Smack Talk.

No problem, I'm glad you brought this to my attention. The moderators have the ability to do what you are talking about. So, maybe there are too many moderators in a forum so it is hard to tell who deleted what. I WILL delete any post that has ****, just because this is not, nor will it ever be, "that" kind of site... That being said, i've online delete like 1 or 2 posts since the boards got started years ago... I will probably have to one day go through and clean up any posts that have foul pictures (help anyone?) but I will never go through and delete posts because of any other reason than the post being too foul for "HBCUCONNECT" to even be associated with it (**** or something that will make all of our sponsors pull the little bit of funds we have to do this website)... So long story short... It is probably a moderator removing posts. I think there should only be like 1 or 2 mods to a forum personally, but I let Chris handle all of that since I never really had time to do much on the boards... Also, there is a configuration parameter for the boards that will delete posts automatically based on if they are old or stale but I'll have to look at that and see exactly how it works to tell you if that could be the culprit. Holla ... Oh, yea, if I don't reply quick enough to any concern, please hit the "Contact Us" page cause we'll get that right away. Thanks.

Wassup admin, You very well could be refering to me about the "foul" pics. First, that was not a **** pic but of a man doing the unthinkable. If it was so harsh that you felt the "sponsors" will pull funds then so be it. Personally, I thought the pic was crazy and just wanted to see other peoples reactions.. :???: I also believe that there are TOO many moderators and too many rooms for a Forum that doesn't have a lot of traffic or active posters.

Thank you very much for addressing the thread.... And I figured it wasn't you.... Figured you'd give us SOME type of explanation if it was.... SO....guess that narrows down the suspect list.... really, i don't care TOO much because my stuff never gets deleted, lol...'cause i never call peepz out or whateva or INTENTIONALLY, at least, start some drama....but still, it is pretty sheisty for random folks to just be deleting stuff all willy-nilly....so it'd definitely be interesting to find out who all is behind the madness........just for the sake of curiosity... and also....i sort of figured there was some type of configuration on the site that has it automatically deleting ancient threads and posts.....but i don't think that was necessarily the issue.....the problem is RECENT posts...as in ones created an HOUR ago...or a DAY ago....about various things....just coming up missing... but anyway....guess we'll....somebody...will figure it out...eventually....

Yep. Nothing personal, but from several perspectives, that's not the kind of pics/content we'd want to see on hbcuconnect.com... There is a website for everything/everyone... I even run a couple of other websites that have nothing to do with HBCUs that cats might like but you know... That's another topic/thread. I know you probably meant no harm and all, but I hope you feel me. As for so many mods and whatnot, I'll let users vote on that and then maybe vote on who should be the 1 or 2 mods on a forum...
