I suggest you go online and look up the NCLEX exam passage rate for the state's and schools, do not go off of what people have heard, I'm did nursing for two years its an extremely hard major and no matter how hard you work in undergrad, if you didnt learn enough info to pass the NCLEX exam then it won't matter because you won't be able to practice as a RN. Also you may want to expand your horizons and look outside of HBCUs, there are some really good programs on at PWIs, just research research and research.

I tried to find some websites but came up with .... nothing! I suggest you make a list of schools you are interested in and look on their nursing program website, and or contact the department and ask for their passage rate. You may be able to look it up online at Yahoo through state passage rates, Good Luck, let me know if you have any other questions. O and what schools did you have in mind?

O Ok I'm familiar with both schools, are you from VA, if you are from VA I would lean towards Hampton because you will get more financial aid(more than likely), Howards gives you nothing even if you are qualified except for a work-study program, and you will have a small chance of getting grant money. I WAS going to transfer to Hamptons nursing program, it seems really good, BUT they have a bad administration, I emailedl them about 10 times within the past year and a half and I've NEVER received a responce, I refuse to give 20,000 a year to a school who can't communicate with me, and in college communication between staff members is essential to you sucess at times. From what I've heard Hampton and HU hava a good nursing program I don't know exact numbers all I know is that NSU has the lowest passage rate for the NCLEX in VA(48%), and ODU has the highest passing rate in VA(100%). I don't believe that your chances of passing will be much different between hampton and HU, it will probably ultimately just fall on you and your study skills.
