I've decided to enroll at A&M can anybody tell me about the following
the business program:
professors(avoid/take):
the girls:
what to do around campus:
how do I get settled:
appreciate ya comments
the business program:
The School of Business offers Bachelor's degrees in Accounting, Business Administration (with a concentration in International Business, Logistics, Management, Management Information Systems, or Office Systems Management), Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing. It also offers an MBA and a Master's degree in Economics.
professors(avoid/take):
It depends on what you plan to study. I wasn't in the School of Business while I was at AAMU, and I only took one class in that building. So, I'm not too familiar with the professors there. However, I took Dr. Gebremikael for Economics, and he was okay, but I heard that a lot of people didn't like him. I've also heard that Dr. Jones, the Dean of the School of Business, is a very tough teacher. So, I guess it depends on the person.
the girls:
Well, in my opinion, there are a variety of girls on this campus. Although most of them are Black, you've got a little bit of everything because every girl is not the same. Some have a really good personality; some don't.
what to do around campus:
AAMU offers several clubs and organizations, such as the Student Government Association, Open Mic Night (if you like to engage in poetry and spoken word), a host of intramural sports, and many other things.
Homecoming Week is a very big event on this campus, and it usually consists of an agenda of events that take place from Sunday to Saturday. For example, it has a "Soul Food Sunday", a comedy show with comedians you'll see on BET, prominent guest speakers, a homecoming parade, the "Dusk till Dawn Party" which is probably the biggest school dance of the year, the football game, the Greek step show, and several other events.
During February (Black History Month), there's usually a daily agenda of interesting things that occur at AAMU, and it varies from year to year.
If you need assistance with homework problems or personal adjustment with college, there are tutoring/mentoring programs that can help. I forgot exactly what those places are called, but if you visit the link that I posted below, then it should have that information available.
I probably don't have the time to go through everything you can do around campus, but the stuff listed above is among the many things that happen on our campus.
how do I get settled:
AAMU has a few female and male residents halls (I haven't enrolled there for over a year, so I'm not sure which ones are in use; plus, the last time I was there, there were no co-ed dorms, but things might have changed). I know that most of the females live in West Campus Living/Learning Complex, and most of the males live in the Foster Living/Learning Complex. Those places have suites that hold up to four people with two rooms and two bathrooms, and there's a fee to earn a spot there on a first-come-first-serve basis. Also, a lot of students live in Normal Hills Apartments, which isn't too far from the main campus area. The last time I was there, freshmen couldn't live there, but like I said earlier, things might have changed by now.
For more information just go to this link www.aamu.edu . Once you get there, click on Prospective Students, and I'm pretty sure that this section will help you in more ways than one.
I hope this information helps, and good luck on your college journey!
Hey AAMU prospects if any of you guys have any questions you can pm me. I will gladly try my best to answer them the best that I can. Goodluck and enjoy the summer. 8)
Well, I guess I have the same question as the guy above except that I will be a Forestry Major.
I will be in the Foster Learning Complex.
What about everybody else who has responded to this thread?
Why did I not know about this board?!? I am so mad...okay not really, but all incoming students...welcome! I hope you like what "THE HILL" has to offer. Just remember its up to you to make every aspect of college life work. A lot of people will say that the school is boring, but I have had a blast my first two years. I hope to see you on campus and on Tha Block. PM me or post on this board if you have any questions for this A&M Diva.
