Prominent Blacks missing from this poll:
Bill Cosby, George Washington Carver, Frederick Douglass, WEB DuBois
Douglass slept with a white woman while married to a black woman who helped him reach is freedom.. but besides that..
WEB DuBois didn't like darkskin black people he called Marcus Garvey an ape but when in trouble fled to Africa with the APES
But i like the list
I'd add
Huey P. Newton, Fred Hampton, Halle Selassie I ( not American nvm) , J.A. Rogers, Bobby Seale, Kume Ture.. but i'd vote for umm.. Ali even though they got him looking straight sambo in that picture..
my top 5 (from that list) would be::
5.Elanor Roosevelt (did a lot for women)
4.Franklin Roosevelt (did a lot for poor people)
3.Albert Einstein (started atomic age....sorta)
2.Abraham Lincoln (freed slaves)
1. martin Luther King (Obvious Reasons)
I hope no one picks George Washington. That man hated black people and had 200 slaves. Greatest man my a$$ . On a lighter not I would pick MLK as my number one and maybe Oprah cus she has been through alot and is still kickin and maybe eleanor roosevelt too because she was a great woman!
and u would still be a **** if it wasnt for G-DUB........and by the way he freed them after he left office............and if thas da case ......lincoln had slaves too and didnt care about black folks.......he jus freed the slaves as a war tactic.............yeah AP US History

All of these people are on the poll (except for DuBois). You have to go into Nominees A-Z to get a full list. On the front page are just the 25 finalists.

he's gotta point... and besides... the Emancipation Proclamation didn't end slavery... the Union winning the Civil War did, followed by the 13th amendment... which Congress passed..
