Hampton University Signs On with Ruckus Newest campus plugged-in to digital entertainment service Herndon , VA – June 7 – Today, Ruckus announced the newest member to its digital media network: Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Hampton University becomes the third historically black college and university (HBCU) currently signed on. By signing with Ruckus, all on-campus students at Hampton University will have unlimited access to a library of over 700,000 songs, a huge collection of blockbuster movies, a wide selection of on-demand hit television shows, and Ruckus’ community and social networking applications that allow students to find friends through media, and media through friends. “Ruckus is a much welcomed, and very important addition to Hampton University,” said Dr. Debra Saunders-White, assistant provost for technology and CIO of Hampton. “We feel that Ruckus’ community, digital media, and educational aspects make it stand out in the expanding field of digital media providers. We are proud to offer the students at “our home by the sea” an avenue in which to legally download media and express themselves by uploading their own creations, and interact using their preference in music and movies...this new addition will truly benefit student life on our campus.” Hampton University is a leader in its implementation and use of technology, and continues to invest in the technologies that keep the institution on the leading edge. HU has been recognized as one of Yahoo’s Most Wired Campuses and ranked #6 among the Most Connected Colleges and Universities in the Country by Forbes.com and Princeton Review. The addition of Ruckus to Hampton University reinforces the school’s commitment to providing the best technology to its students. Hampton University joins Clark Atlanta University and North Carolina A&T State University as HBCU campuses currently taking advantage of Ruckus’ digital media offering. The addition of these three HBCU campuses is a movement that Ruckus hopes will become a trend across the rest of the HBCU schools. “Hampton University is yet another great addition to the Ruckus’ family of fine colleges and universities,” said William J. Raduchel, chairman and CEO of Ruckus. “We at Ruckus look forward to working with the university to ensure that all students on campus have access to unlimited downloads of all of their favorite media, while improving campus and student life by allowing students to network and interact through Ruckus’ impressive media-based community features.” By providing legal digital media, community features, and educational content, Ruckus believes that it has cemented itself as the premier college-only digital entertainment and community network available to campuses, and has successfully demonstrated its dedication to enhancing student life and the educational process on college campuses. About Ruckus Ruckus provides the most comprehensive digital media services available for colleges today. The Ruckus service offers movies, music, TV, community-building tools, original content and a self-publishing application. With this rich array of features, Ruckus helps unite campuses through common interests. Unlike some other digital media services, Ruckus is dedicated to the college market and works hard to design a digital media package specifically for each campus. Today, the Ruckus service is enjoyed by thousands of U.S. college students and is quickly becoming the brand of choice for higher education institutions nationwide.
