Hey y'all, I have finally decided where Im goin for school and I feel like I made the best choice, Howard! It's a long way from Nashville and I was just wanting to know what it is like on campus, what classes are like, and everything else that u think that a new student should know! Thanks so much for all your help and I cant wait to see u all next year! 8)
expect to be in a poor neighborhood and a dark **** metro stop. but u still made a good choice. i dont be up howard campus but once a year and thats like in the summer so i cant be of much more help. sorry.
here's the only advice thats you'll need: pay attention to you surroundings and stay focused on school. Howard is challenging academically and at the same time it is EASY to become distracted by what going on. Just don't have too much fun and you'll be alright.
Sweety im going to be a sophomore at howard next year and i can tell you the these things....
1. DO NOT BE A **** OF THE **** WALL....the wall outside of the Quad, the freshman girls dorm, girls who sit there A LOT are seen as being FRESH sometimes
2. DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE SEEN AS A GOER OR A ROLLER....a goer a girl who gets around
3. KEEP YOUR ID WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES....ur howard ID is so important
4. WATCH OUT FOR D.C. BOYS AND BOYS WHO PRETEND THEY GO TO HOWARD!!!! theY get mad if u dont talk to them
5. DO ALL YOUR REGISTRATIONS EARLY ESPIECIALLY CLASSES...go to the I-Lab and LINES ARE RIDICULOUS...have records of everything, they'll try to tell you you gotta get a shot when u got one already
6. HOMECOMING IS CRAZY...WATCH WHAT YOUR WEAR, NON-HOWARD FELLAS ATTACK
7. THOSE 8:10 CLASSES WILL SOMETIMES **** U...i thought i could get up b/c i did in high school but its different now
8. THE BATTLE OF THE REAL H-U IS FOR REAL!
Basically make friends freshmen week, a lot of people say freshmen week is the most fun they ever had....theres parties and parties, activities....i know a lot of girls met people going to the summer program....you also get used the neighborhood, ive seen a lot worse, people tend to exaggerate about howard's neighborhood....AND school spirit is so live at howard, u may meet people ready to leave but they always have that bison spirit...at the football games you'll get your first taste of the spirit...school wise you gotta balance things as at any school...theres parties goin on sundays and thursdays and u know u gotta 8:10 and a 9:10 class...dont do it!!!! To get the full college experience, i think, dont just be a student, join a club or sport, there's many. OUR HOMETOWN CLUBS R BIG...for instance if ur from georgia, join the georgia club. TRUST ME....U'LL ENJOY UR FIRST YEAR @ H-U.
I may have said too much or too little but you'll see for your self, all experiences are different....WELCOME TO HOWARD DARLING!!
