For those new to our school, Seven Hills is an independent, nonprofit, nonsectarian, college preparatory school serving boys and girls in prekindergarten (32 months) through grade twelve at Seven Hills Doherty, Lotspeich, Middle and Upper Schools on the Hillsdale and Doherty Campuses in Cincinnati, Ohio.
We hope that you will discover for yourselves what members of our school family know: Seven Hills is an outstanding academic community, and it's a great place to be a student, teacher, and parent!
A Heritage of Leadership and Vision
Our roots in the community date back to 1906 when the College Preparatory School was founded in East Walnut Hills by Mary Harlan Doherty, to 1916 when Helen G. Lotspeich began the Clifton Open-Air School in her home, and to 1927 when Hillsdale School was founded near Madisonville to provide an alternative in private education in Cincinnati.
In 1974, these schools became The Seven Hills School comprised of the Doherty Campus in East Walnut Hills for PK-grade 5 (Doherty School) and the Hillsdale Campus near Madisonville for PK-grade 5 (Lotspeich School), grades 6-8 (Middle School) and grades 9–12 (Upper School).
The ideals, standards of excellence, dedication to the total development of each student, and the legacy of stewardship and service to the community were hallmarks of our predecessor schools and continue to be intrinsic parts of a Seven Hills education. We count 6500 alumni/ae among our extended family, many of whom remain active in the life and leadership of the school.
