About   (request update)
I’m Joseph Daniels Jr., a young African American man with northern roots and a southern upbringing, currently a Criminal Justice major at Stillman College entering my sophomore year. I was raised on the belief that education and Black excellence are not optional, they are expectations, shaped heavily by my mother and my experience growing up in the South, where HBCUs are a foundation for leadership and opportunity.I am a Dean’s List scholar and an active student leader serving as a Resident Advisor, SGA Treasurer, and member of the 100 Black Men Collegiate Chapter. I was also elected Mr. Freshman, a role I campaigned for and was voted into by my peers, which affirmed my ability to lead and represent my campus community. I am currently training in mock trial and plan to join Toastmasters

Claim To Fame:
If you ask around Stillman about me, most people are probably going to say, “He’s involved in everything.” Between being a Resident Advisor, SGA Treasurer, involved in the 100 Black Men Collegiate Chapter, and mock trial, I stay active all across campus. I never wanted college to just be classes for me. I wanted to actually leave my mark, build connections, and take advantage of every opportunity in front of me. Being involved has helped me grow a lot as a leader and as a person. It taught me how to manage responsibility, communicate with different people, and carry myself professionally while still being approachable. I think my “claim to fame” is that people know I am serious about my future, but also somebody who genuinely cares about the campus community and the people around me
Most Memorable Moment:
I am not going to lie, hearing my name called for Mr. Freshman was one of those moments that felt unreal. From the royal ceremony to the campus engagement activities, the entire experience was bigger than I expected. Being selected as part of Stillman College’s royal court was not just about a title to me, it was about leadership, school pride, and representing the student body in a positive way. What made it even more memorable was the energy around it. Meeting students, being involved in events across campus, and building connections with people from different backgrounds made me feel fully connected to the Stillman community. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow more confident in myself. There is also a certain prestige that comes with being part of college leadership and royalty at an HBCU. It made me realize that people were watching how I carried myself and looking to me as someone who represented the spirit of the freshman class. That experience is something I will always remember because it made me feel like I was truly becoming part of the legacy and culture of Stillman College.
