building relationships between public local school districts and neighboring universities for the purposes of improving literacy instruction and enhancing teacher education preparation programs; this is done through providing professional development and conducting round table discussions with principals and university research faculty

to raise children who are independent thinkers and who appreciate life and the fullness therein; to serve as the president of the state's largest community college
