(interview me)
Michael Jackson
Research Assistant, George Peabody College

About   (request update)
My name is Michael Jackson, and I am a recent graduate from Norfolk State University (May 2013). There, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.6 cumulative GPA.
I am fortunate to be admitted to the nation's premier college for my major, special education, where I am funded on a full merit-based scholarship from the Dean of the college and work as a research assistant under the special education department chair.
I will complete my studies toward the M.Ed. degree in special education with an emphasis in high-incidence disabilities, in the spring of 2015, and I intend to immediately go back to school for the PhD in either special education or education leadership and administration, or I will the law track towards a JD. After spending some time in the classroom and administrative roles, I want to begin to affect education on a macro level.
Education   (request update)
Vanderbilt Univ class of 2013
Undergrad Major: Special Education
Claim To Fame:
I served as state-wide president for Virginia's largest professional organization for teacher candidates - the Student Virginia Education Association - for the 2012-2013 year. I represented over 30 colleges and universities on the local, state and national level. In addition, I have recently been slated as one of two applicants for the Student Representative with the Council for Exceptional Student. I worked as an interpreter for persons that are deaf or hard of hearing with The Arc of the Virginia Peninsula - an organization that employs persons with disabilities. I received a merit-based full scholarship, congruent with a presidential scholarship at a university, from the Dean of Peabody College at Vanderbilt for the duration of my studies at Vanderbilt as a masters-level student. My story was featured on my school's website (Norfolk State University) out of over 700 graduates soon after graduating last May.
