Claim To Fame:
My claim to fame at Hampton University is my commitment to leadership and community impact. During my first year, I was elected Freshman Class President, a role that allowed me to represent and advocate for hundreds of students while helping plan initiatives that strengthened class unity and student engagement. That experience became the foundation for much of my leadership journey on campus. Building upon that momentum, I founded Crowning the Culture (https://www.crowningthecultureinc.org), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Black hair education through advocacy, science, and representation. After establishing the organization nationally, I launched a Hampton University chapter that quickly gained visibility across campus through educational programming, service initiatives, and community engagement efforts. Seeing an idea grow from a vision into a recognized organization impacting students both on and off campus has been one of my proudest accomplishments and has become a defining part of my college experience.
Most Memorable Moment:
Some of my most memorable college moments have come through Hampton University's fashion show and modeling community. Outside of student government and leadership organizations, modeling was one of the first communities I joined on campus, and it quickly became a second home. Through Hampton's fashion and creative arts scene, I found opportunities to build confidence, express myself creatively, and connect with talented students from across the university. Those experiences opened doors I never imagined possible. Through my involvement in campus fashion shows, I had the opportunity to work with BET on a production project and was later featured in Essence coverage related to Hampton University's Homecoming fashion show. These opportunities allowed me to represent both myself and my university on larger platforms while showcasing the creativity and excellence that exist within the HBCU community. While leadership positions have shaped my professional growth, the memories I have made through Hampton's modeling community are among the moments I cherish most because they taught me to embrace new opportunities, take creative risks, and believe in my potential beyond the classroom.
