Are any of you involved in any Community Service programs? I'm about to apply to be a youth volunteer at DeKalb Medical Center because I think it will look good on my college apps and some colleges require a minimum amount of community service hours... At DeKalb Medical Center I have to do a minimum of 9 hours a month I'm trying to get 100+ hrs under my belt before I start the college application process...so I'm going to do it all of second semester after school and on some weekends... then get a paying job over the summer

i volunteer with this organization called Girls, Inc. i tutor 1st and 2nd grade girls in reading, mostly. i started doing it because i have to have 80 hours of community service to graduate from my school but it's really fulfilling so even when i get the hours i'll still go.

I'm president of my schools chapter of Key Club, I do service hours for NHS and I'm a candy striper plus I do young Dems because political clubs count as community service. My school has a service requirement that started with every class gaduating after me I just do mines for fun.

At my school we have to do 150 hours of communty service hours just to march along with a senior portfolio, a senior research project, and an exit interview. How 'bout that? but its cool though cause I already have everyyhing together.

For the Leadership program I am in here at Hampton...we have to have 400 hours of community service hours. I have no clue what I want to do...I think I am going to do something related to my major which is Pharmacy. But when I was in high school, we had to do 20 hours a year. So I volunteered at an old folks home as well as at Project Open Hand where we prepared meals for HIV/**** as well as homebound patients.

I am an Americorps member for SERVE! Baton Rouge. We tutor/mentor in underserved elementary school and after school programs. Before we graduate from the progam we must have a minimum of 900 hours. I also volunteer with volunTEENs (check the pic). This summer I did 90 hours and a few fall/projects.
