How have your preferences changed since High School? Posted on 03-15-2005
R-Tistic

I'd have to say yes. My old high school was primarily White, but there were a good amount of Black students. My problem was that I found myself attracted to mainly White girls. . I know right. I think that was becuase there weren't really any Black people in the classes I was taking (Honors). They were nice, but I just couldn't relate to them all the way. I didn't like alot of the Black girls at my school, because they were your streotypical chicken heads. . Never wanting to do anything with thier lives, and wanting a **** to man handle them. Now I'm at Hampton, and I have to say all that has changed. . I love my school because we're never short of B-E-A-utiful sistas who are about their business, and know how to party. . I'm not even attracted to White girls anymore. There are sooooo many women here who are doing something with tthier lives, and that makes them that much more attractive. . I've always known what I wanted, and now I'm at a place that has it.

I mean I'm only less than a year removed from high school and although I have matured more, my preferences haven't changed much from senior year. I STILL have a thing for light skinned boys (or mixed boys) and they gotta be smart, got goals, treat me right, etc. I've had those same requirements since senior year and I haven't really changed them. I'm with my high school sweetheart, so thaz why...

hmmmmm...interesting question... personality-wise....i'd say that....my preferences and standards haven't really changed....they've just become....more developed.... based on who all i've ran into since h.s.... as in....people i've "talked to"...dated...or just liked...since high school....have helped me to figure out exactly what types of people i want and can work best with... for example...i've come 2 find that one thing that i find so attractive in a guy...is great wit.....wit...and perhaps, i'll even say sarcasm....BUT....not 2 the point of just being downright unnecessary, mean, rude, cruel, etc. etc....or in other words...a full-blown @$$HOLE! and the appeal of the nice combination of intelligence and sense of humor....has definitely increased as well.... that is sooooooooooooo important 2 me...now, more than ever......if you can really make me think AND LAUGH/smile, what?! it'z a WRAP! money and cars still aren't important 2 me, as they weren't in h.s....but i've definitely found myself asking dern near every guy i've conversed with...be it someone i was actually feeling...or someone who was seriously just a friend....what type of family situation he's looking at for his future.......because i feel like, the bottom line is...ya never know what could end up happening...and for those that i'm feeling (& vice-versa)....it'd probably end up being pointless for me to get with someone who's either #1, trying to be a bachelor for the REST of his life....and/or #2, is never trying to have any kids... so, yeah....that's one thing that's become a little more important to me....ya know, i ain't trying to imply anything about what we'll become, lol...but it's just to get a nice idea, ya know? make sure we're not wasting my time or his.... but anyway... & physically....my friends & mom think that i'm much more incline 2 speak of the attractiveness of brothas of the "lighter shade" since college.... i say my taste is still quite varied....complexion-wise...as i've spoken up here many times be4 - i just love Black men in general - they're all such beauties! i still LUV me some tall brothaz!!! tall or my height workz 4 me....but still discriminatin' on the "vertically-challenged" (thanks, Tori! lol)....i'll be quick 2 say one is cute/fine/whatever, tho! just not interested in going anywhere with that.... OH yeah...the age thing....that has changed somewhat since h.s....well considering how STRICT on that i used 2 be, it's changed a LoT! lol....like i said in another thread up here...i used 2 not even THINK about dating someone so much as a DAY younger than me....& just like the short brothas, i'd say they were cute if they were or whatever...but that was about it.....until about approximately....my sophomore year in college (last year).....now, it seemz that's ALL i end up talkin' to & becoming cool with, lol...guys who r younger than me, even if only by a few months (except H - he'z a junior, like me ).... i've lessened up on those "standards," but now i say NO YOUNGER than by a YEAR....'cause like i also mentioned in that other thread up here, by the time u get pass that one year, that's dippin' off into my brother's friends & carryin' on, and uhh....yeah, jameya just can't have that, lol...sorry!! & on a final note....hair! since i've been in college, i've definitely increased attraction to long hair on guys....like, long enough to cornrow (even tho i can't do it :? lol)....i luv cornrows on 'em & when it's just all out, untamed, lol....IT'S ALL LUDACRIS' FAULT, i SWEAR! ](*,) [/

well i guess for me in hs, i was basically just lookin at who was fine and whatnot.i really didnt care that much about personality, but right around senior year i got tired of the "hoodrat" girls or the ghetto girls or whatever you wanna call em.believe me our school had plenty.and bein in detroit which is aobut 90-95 % black there were a lot.now i know that im about business and tryna do somethin with my life with goals and whatnot, i want a girl who is the same way.a girl who has her ish together and bein at hampton, there are plenty of girls like that.

Glad you came to your senses. I preferred the light skin, preppy, pretty boy. I like all guys as far as physical but I'm bored with preppy and blazers.
