have ya'll heard that song "Mr. Nice Guy," by Will Smith? my brother downloaded it yesterday & played it 4 me... he's pretty much responding to all of the criticism he's received over the years about him being "soft," etc. etc. etc....& how he's been a big target in lyrics from other rappers and even fans... not to MY surprise, the song is pretty str8...and i, for one, am TOO HAPPY he finally released somethin' like this.........somethin' to pretty much say, "YEAH YEAH YEAH, WHATEVA...AT THE END OF THE DAY, I'M RICH AND SUCCESFUL, WITH A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY AND FULFILLING LIFE, AND YOU'RE NOT...SO KISS MY @$$!!!!" i know this'll probably be moved 2 the music forum, but oh well - just wanted 2 see who all's heard it thus far....& suggest 2 those who haven't...2 peep it if u get the chance!! here's a few particular exerpts from the song (taken from here: http://www.abcmusiques.net/willsmith1059.php ): Mr. Niceguy relationship advice guy Liked on the vices priceless smile Look at the eyes got the look of a survivor Husband, father Dissed by Eminem but did it bother him (yup) But he classy Big Will just get another 20 mil And walk right pass E. yeah, but see that's just it....it ain't like he's some fresh rookie music artist or beginner actor...where he gotta choose either-or... that's the beauty of his (& anyone like him) situation...he can do both...& not think twice about it... & believe it or not, u still do have some people who like his music...so it's not like it's a total loss for him to continue with the music thing....and it DEFinitely ain't like he's without talent, esPECially when u consider what the mainstream rap industry consists of today....so i feel like, he might as well do it all, if he can....and he can, lol now, J-LO....SHE...needs to stick to acting  lol but that's 4 a whole other thread....

I havent listened to the song, but I will in a minute. I think Will is a music legend in how own right...and he needs to stay that way. I think he should gracefully bow out of music, instead of being shunned by fans and the industry as a whole as almost being a joke now. And going out of music in vain, instead of with the respect he deserves if you understand what Im sayin. I mean he has a love for music which is fine and he is doing him which is even better. Aint no shame or blame in that. I just think as a person and entertainer he should focus his career and future endeavors and whatnot into acting.

I feel what you're saying....but I just don't think everyone feels he is a joke... a lot of Black people might....but that doesn't mean everyone is.... and I still feel like...I could see if he were struggling and couldn't afford to do both....but he can....so if he loves it, I don't see why not stick with it? People are gonna hate on people regardless....doesn't matter how great they are....and if he were suffering financially, mentally, or emotionally from continuing with his music, that'd be one thing...but being as though he isn't (that we know of)....why give up something he loves, just to shut people up or make people more satisfied of him? I sure wouldn't.... not everyone agrees with Ice Cube's style of music and lyrical deliverance...yet he hasn't stepped out completely....and alike Will, he doesn't have to....they can both be a big movie artist AND a not-so-popular rap artist at the same time... if anyone needs to step outta music, it's the majority of the rap industry's comercial artists right now :???: but anywayz...
