Likelihood of Acceptance? Posted on 06-07-2008

I know I still have 2 more years of high school to go before college, but I saw a thread like this in the forums today, coupled with the feedback the poster got and it made me wonder: Basically, I want to apply to Hampton, FAMU, and NC A&T. As of now I have a 3.7 Cummulative GPA (with most all honors and/or AP courses). Im a part of the National Honor Society, I am a South Carolina Junior Scholar and a part of the Duke University TIProgram, President of GS Tropp, Unarmed OIC (Commander) SC-933 Drill Team, and I play Track, Volleyball, and Tennis. Besides that I volunteer for TeenLine and Charleston County Parks and Recreation year-round, plus GS does a lot of community service. I'm also starting the IB program next year. So if I kept up how I'm doing (adding a few more extracirriculars and hopefully raising my GPA) for the next 2 years, what do you think is the likelihood that I get accepted into any of those schools I listed? (I'm also taking the SAT this year. I took the SAT in 7th grade through the Duke TIProgram and got a 900 ((old scale)) and the PSAT in 8th through SC Junior Scholars, and didnt do bad on that either, so I'm not to worried about my scores.)

I think your chances are good if you keep all that stuff up. Good luck!

We still growin.. but the schools u got on ya list r good in every way.... use paine as a backup school... like if u need to get in to get a scolarship like right now... then apply to paine... i mean they let anyone in... im jus sayin u dont got to commit to paine.. but if u need a quick accpetance letter... then i would apply lol

You're fine. The main thing to really worry about when trying to get accepted int o any school is financial aid if you aren't wealthy. For you, you wouldn't have to worry about that. You're obviously a well-rounded student and you can definitely count on a full ride. I don't think any school would refuse you that. I was recently accepted into Howard as a transfer with a perfect GPA and with less than great high school grades, lol. Since I'd proven that I could actually do the work and drew the attention away from my mediocre high school grades, they offered me a wonderful deal. Look forward to college, because you sure worked hard for it.
