I don't know if this has been up for discussion because I haven't been on the site as much as I used to. I thought this would be good to share.
Greetings!
MM: Mandatory U.S. Military DraftPlease take the time to read this e-mail. It is in reference to a new bill that the U.S. House and Senate is attempting to pass that would make it mandatory for men and WOMEN (ages 18-26) to serve in the army starting June 15, 2005. I went to the website and it is a legitimate bill. Information is power.
There is pending legislation in the house and senate (companion bills: S89 and HR 163) which will time the program's initiation so the draft can begin as early as spring, 2005, just after the 2004 presidential election. The administration is quietly trying to get these bills passed now, while the public's attention is on the elections.
This plan, among other things, eliminates higher education as a shelter and includes women in the draft. Also, crossing into Canada has already been made very difficult.
And let your children know - - it's their future, and they can be a powerful voice for change! This legislation is called HR 163 and can be found in detail at this website thomas.loc.gov Just enter in "HR 163" and click search and will bring up the bill for you to read. It is less than two pages long. If this bill passes, it will include all men and ALL WOMEN from ages 18 - 26 in a draft for military action. In addition, college will no longer be an option for avoiding the draft and they will be signing an agreement with Canada which will no longer permit anyone attempting to dodge the draft to stay within it's borders. This bill also includes the extention of military service for all those that are currently active.
If you go to the select service web site and read their 2004 FYI Goals you will see that the reasoning for this is to increase the size of the military in case of ****. This is a critical piece of legislation, as this will effect our undergraduates, our children and our grandchildren.
Please take the time to write your congressman and let them know how you feel about this legislation. [www.house.gov] or [www.senate.gov] Why isn't the media covering this important story? After all, the $28 million for the draft has been added to the 2004 selective service system budget to prepare for a military draft that could start as early as June 15, 2005. Selective service must report to Bush [the likely winner] on March 31, 2005 that the system, which has lain dormant for decades, is ready for activation.
Please see ww w.sss.gov/perfplan_fy2004.html to view the Selective Service System annual performance plan, fiscal year 2004.
The pentagon has quietly begun a public campaign to fill all 10,350 draft board positions and 11,070 appeals board slots nationwide. Though this is an unpopular election year topic, military experts and influential members of congress are suggesting that if Rumsfeld's prediction of a "long, hard slog" in Iraq and Afghanistan (and permanent state of war on ****) proves accurate, the U.S. may have no choice but to draft.
www.hslda.org/legislation/national/20 03/s89/default.asp entitled the Universal National service Act of 2003, "to provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons (age 18-26) in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes." These active bills currently sit in the committee on armed services.
Dodging the draft will be more difficult than those from the Vietnam era. College and Canada will not be options. In December, 2001, Canada and the U.S. signed a "smart border declaration," which could be used to keep would-be draft dodgers in. Signed by Canada's minister of foreign affairs, John Manley, and U.S. Homeland Security director, Tom Ridge, the declaration involves a 30 point plan which implements, among other things, a "pre-clearance agreement" of people entering and departing each country. Reforms aimed at making the draft more equitable along gender and class lines also eliminates higher education as a shelter. Underclassmen would only be able to postpone service until the end of their current semester. Seniors would have until the end of the academic year.
This very thing is why we need to get Bush out of office. He is trying to **** off the young generation. Soon there will be so few of us left. WE NEED TO VOTE AGAINST BUSH! Its not even a race issue, it for our age group. Fukin' ****
SMH
Bush is not the one coming up with this, the senate and the house of representatives are. The people in the house of representatives and senate, who OUR STATES votes for, are coming up with these laws. Seriously, I am tired of people blaming every single thing that happends in government on Bush. Most things that come to pass Bush doesn't come up with, the people we put in the house of representatives and senate came up with these

Like said before, the Senate and Reps deal with the president a lot. They try to pass certain laws when there are certain presidents are in office. They know Bush is for the war, so they know he will try to pass a law to bring out more young adults to the army to fight the Sh*t he started.
I highly doubt they deal with the president a lot. He is gone most of the time.....what u think he just running back on his campaign trail and sitting down for a couple of hours in front of them to discuss things? Nope
They had a news report a while back about this specific email going around....They said it is just a big rumor....altho there is some talk about it and everything...its not as serious as the emails makes it out to be....so dont worry too much yet....
besides....a lot of military important folk was sayin how they dont agree with the draft period....because the army would work better if they got people who volunteer....
i dunno ::shrugs:: im not too worried about it....and besides....i'd go to jail first before they force me to fight for a corrupted country....

I'm not having big worries, but I don't think its a rumor. I went on the government website and saw the bill that they presented but didn't it didn't pass.
But I second on going to jail before I go fighting for them.
According to both the President and Senator Kerry, neither one of them is is favor of reinstating the draft. They both believe the military should be on a volunteer basis, I believe they both know if the draft was reinstated then there would be pure chaos in America.
Regardless of whether it is Conress or the President himself who wants to reinstate the draft, I am definitely not worried about it and not thinking twice about it. I seriously dont see it happening, and the chance that it does happen...well you can count on Miss Jamila to get knocked up by somebody somewhere, cause I aint going nowhere.
I FEEL YA JAMILA!!! U can really count on Candace ta get knocked up too, cause i aiint tryin ta go and fight over there!!! This dude (BUSH) is effin crazy!
VOTE FOR BUSH!!!! LOL! okay...everyone dont **** me!
THERE ISNT GOING TO BE A DRAFT......DAMN you people hate Bush so much that you all are blinded by reality and facts. Get your "i hate Bush mentality out your ****. Kerry can't hold down the U.S like Bush is.
