yeah... didn't you ever have social studies? they did have stuff about the oregon trail in the books.... i've read this site already
yeah i did have social studiez, u NUT & we probably did learn about the actual Oregon Trail, but back in those days, i didn't think about that computer game's educational factor...i thought of it as just what it was - a computer game plus, there isn't just historical education going on...you're gaining decision-making skills...reasoning skills...problem solving skills...etc. etc...& i just didn't make that connection back then! not until now, thinkin' back...do I realize how clever that game is for an elementary school student... so HUSH

Back in the day when I was young... I'm not a kid anymore... Oh yeah, I had that game figured out, always be the banker Holla!
my homegurl says she thinks it's best to be the carpenter...so u could always fix things if the problem arises... but looking back...i remember always being able to buy a whole lot of ammo...& havin' a lot of money...so, i was always the banker....

Man I couldn't stand that game......the wagon always caught on fire, or your crew got sick, or the wagon wouldn't be able to cross the river..........to much to figure out at the age of 7.
   lookin' back...it really does seem like too much for a lil' kid...but nevertheless, we still were all OVER that game!

Now Number Munchers was the game!!!!!
when i was lookin' thru the Oregon Trail sites on tha 'net earlier today, I saw "Math Munchers" mentioned many times as another educational computer game fav. among kids during those days....not sure if this is the same thing or not tho...

Hotep, I played that Game During Lunch when I didn't get to go outside and play. Those where the days!!! The Apple Computer with the Floppy Disk!
yup yup yup!!! i played it after school @ this after-school daycare i went 2 for the majority of my elementary school years....i think we only had like 2 computers to play it from, & everyone was always tryin' to race to get on 1st to play...

i actually have the original oregon trail installed on here (it's my sisters) and you made me actually play it again today...still good at it...
lol, ok...now i feel ok about having downloaded a free trial version off of the 'net earlier today....& from like 7:30 to almost 11 str8, i'd been playing it only reason i stopped was to go for a walk & get somethin' to drink down the street.... & before my homegurl left earlier, she got on, started playing & was like hypnotized, lol...i was like, "jackie...step..away...from.....the.....computer....NOW" only thing is tho...this isn't the original version..that's what i really wanted to play...& @ 1st wasn't tryna play this one...but actually, it's the same concept, situations, etc....but u can just tell it's really been modernized & whatnot...it's comparable to goin' from the Nintendo version of Super Mario Bros. to the PS2 version...sorta....

Naw, the **** was ...Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago...
LOL...that's what my homegurl said.... that game is a lil' more vague to me, but i do remember it... i didn't really care too much for the show, so....yeah - don't think i got into the computer game equivalent... but cha know what i DO remember playin'...it was called "Dr. Livingstone, I Presume?" (*thread idea*)....

I thought I was the only one who loved this game. I loved me some Oregan Trail though. Everytime I had computer time, I'd play and I only lost once.

i did download it...& played for about 10 mins... sad to say, i think the newer version has me spoiled u know how certain things u appreciate more when u're younger?? i think the original version of this game is one of those things for me.... & i now c exactly how this had many educational elements to it.....in fact, i don't understand how i didn't c it back then... that original version has too much goin' on, lol... maybe it'z just me... nevertheless, i still loved it back in tha day!!
