We lead the nation in grades, sports, band etc. Everyone else copies off of us. The only reason there are other black colleges is because to far to go, or couldn't cut the grades!!! Lol!!! :lol:

Are you serious?!?!?!?!?!? I hope you are just joking. As a proscpective student of FAMU, I realized ya'll do not lead the nation in grades. Ya'll are very far from it. Shoot, if that was the case simply look at ya'lls admissions minimums. Also, ya'll don't lead in sports...didn't a whole bunch of ya'lls titles get retracted earlier this season? I remember reading in the newspaper about all the problems ya'll were having. And it wasn't just a page, it was the whole damn section. And about ya'll having the best band....hmmm I don't think so. I mean it's good and all but I think BCC has a better band, but they don't get recognized because their school is so small. You think other HBCU's copy off of FAMU?!?!?!? When was FAMU founded???? In 1887...hmm...there were so many other HBCU's that were founded before that time, so you need to go on with that statement. I'm not even going to lie, FAMU is a good school, but it ain't all of what you are claiming in this post.
I really hope you are not looking into attending FAMU anymore! You should have pride in your future college rather than shine negative light on it. So like I said, I hope you have found another college choice. First of all, newspapers are going to blow situations out of proportion merely to draw greater attention to the issues. They don't always reflect schools in the best light.
You do not attend FAMU so it is impossible for you to understand exactly what is occuring. It's clear you don't quite understand the goals set out by the founders of FAMU. FAMU was created to give African-Americans a chance to better themselves. At FAMU, mediocre students, as well as several exceptional students, are often alotted opportunities that may have been unreachable anywhere else, thus the lower admissions standards.
If you really want to attend a school you should look into its origins, and what the school stands for. U shouldn't look at a school solely at face value, otherwise you will definitely miss out on several great opportunities.
Umm, no offense, but I said I was a perspective student..meaning that FAMU was one of my choices. I attend Hampton, but I wasn't trying to downplay ya'lls school, I was simply responding to the statements made by heman7.
pretty much... i got much respect for FAMU, but that dude was just making it seem like it is the holy grail... FAMU is a great school, as is Hampton, Howard, Skegee, and A&T... but it's not the cathedral of HBCUs as ol' dude is making it... i really didn't see any harm in Jia's post personally...

No offense was taken. Im sorry, but I thought you were a prospective student. And it did seem as if you were trying to downplay FAMU. In your attempt to prove heman7 wrong, you made several overexaggerated, negative comments about FAMU. But it's alright I know you were jumping on the defense. And though our titles were taken away from us, we still stand as THE leading HBCU in sports. :wink: Heman7 himself may have been a bit zealous, but there was no need for your attempt to air out FAMU's dirty laundry...

okay I have mad respect for famu half of my family goes there and are in the band. But clearly u are not all you believe that you are, because among the top hbcus morehouse, spellman, and hampton are in the top three, where is famu on that list.

On me not being all that I think I am, well my life speakes for itself.
About FAMU, I graduated in 95. I know where we were at and I see the growth, population, reputation etc. With our numbers, FAMU still speakes for itself. Our import of international students, our own Black Lawschool, Our pharmacy program, our school of Bus. our Engineering program etc.etc.etc.
Note I speak for the school and not personally attack any scholl or person.
By the way, look at the news. Morehouse is in serious truble. The School Presifent was just fired abruptly, the past president along with other top officials are accused of stealing federal financial aide $$$ and passing the costs off to students(past, present etc.). I dont attack the school, I am just informing you of the latest.
The site says smack talk. I have seen much worse. Maybe I am wrong on what the definition of smack talk is. What is it? Corrct me?

First of all, Im guessing that u go to Hampton.... Because I'm sure that Howard would be in the top three with Morehouse and Spelman. And where the hell are YOU getting the top hbcu list from?? It must be off the top of your head. Hampton's admissions standards are not too high themselves... I know a lot of people who were accepted to Hampton and went there because they didn't get accepted to anywhere else. I applied to Hampton, and clearly FAMU was the better choice for me because I am a Business Administration major.
Awesome point Sis!! Deep. Impressed. You would make a great lawyer or politician. You remind me of my fire at your age. I have had to learn moderation. I still have to work on that. When something is close to my heart, I mean well in the battle. However, due to over zealousness, I blur the minds of some. The point gets lost in the heat of the battle. Keep the fire but sometimes one has to tone the langauge down. It is all through Proverbs. I have difficulty still watching my tongue but I am better at it. If you start now, you will not be my age struggling. You know I only mean well. I see the talent, I see the "GIFT" you have. The intelligence is obviously there.

Good to hear what I obviously know. Black colleges serve their purpose. However, I named multiple things FAMU is noted for. I have honor in my school also. I dont condemn your school, I commend it. It is what we call, being competitive in what we belong to. It is like talking or ribbing about your sports team,but it is a brotha hood. Having fun.
I dont know much about NCCU. I just know we whupped ya'll butts in football. Your teams were not that good. Thanx for the knowledge about your school.

The President of Morehouse School of Medicine was fired abruptly. Morehouse College and Morehouse Med School are two separate schools. Each is independent of the other. Massey is still at Morehouse.
