True. They don't even have a pic of Rosa Parks on there, but they put a big **** picture of Beyonce? *shakes head*

Beyonce has done nothing that signifies a major accomplishment in the Black community. I searched all over the HISTORY/ DICOVERY CHANNEL web site and there was nothing about Beyonce, only her picture. That's messed up. It's only perpetuating the stereotype that you have to be an athlete or a hollywood star to mean something as a black person. A lot of children don't even know their basic Black trail blazers such as Harriet Tubman or Malcolm X, but they know all the words to "Slow Motion" the explicit version. :?

I would've been more a lot more content if it had Aretha Franklin or Billie Holiday or Mahalia Jackson. But Beyonce!? :? I just don't understand that.

The picture basically proves that people, including us, don't give a damn about our culture or history unless we have a mic or ball in our hand.
You hit that right on the nail...

I believe your referring to Hattie McDaniel, and i totally agree. She was the first African American woman to receive an Oscar nomination. I could even understand if they put Halle Berry up there for her Oscar accomplisment. In a sense, they broke a barrier for Black women in in the acting field. But Beyonce? :? " Biography.com Celebrates Black History Month Every February, Americans celebrate Black History Month. This tribute dates back to 1926 and is credited to a Harvard scholar named Carter G. Woodson. The son of former slaves, Woodson dedicated his life to ensuring that black history was accurately documented and disseminated. In an effort to bring national attention to the contributions of black Americans, Woodson organized the first annual Negro History Week in 1926. He chose the second week of February in honor of the birthdays of pivotal black supporters Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. From Jackie Robinson to Tiger Woods, Harriet Tubman to Barrack Obama, Black History Month pays tribute to inspirational African Americans from the past, as well as those who will continue to make history well into the future. " - Biography Channel website I see what they are going for with the whole past to future accomplishments thing. My biggest problem is that her picture is so prominent and overshadowing people that have made clear and distinct contributions to the African American community. I honestly cannot say what she has significantly done for our people. Okay, so she won some grammys, woop-dee-do give her a cookie. Black people won grammys before her.
