Unity is a very small word with a HUGE meaning! Believe or not, not everyone will be able to truly grasp its meaning and then act upon it. And that is our biggest challenge as to why we are not unified today as a African American or Hispanic. I could say segregation is the black belt of a white American, but I would be ignorant. For segregation is not that of another race that is more hinder-some than it is being segregated within ourselves. We cannot combat the forces placed against us by fighting alone! We must educated, train, build each other up spiritually to be ready to face spiritual war. This is not a physical war, for if it was, all the physical **** we engage in would by now been won. No, It is within ourselves we must combat daily to suppress the negativity of society, democracy, media, and cultural influence.
Now the question still is, what must be done to change the stereotypes practically we develop onto ourselves? Yes, I said it! The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. We need to stop being in denial that we are a bunch of vulnerably foreigners taken from our native land to strive to live elsewhere. If you really think about it, we are better off here in America than our native land. This is the land of opportunity and we need to value what did come out of slavery or other hurtful circumstances. I believe in every negative thing there can be found some good.
African Americans and Hispanics need to unit because there is strength in numbers. And whenever a group can share a common issue you can develop a common goal for an approach to that issue. African Americans and Hispanics are considered a minority and do you really know why that is? It because that is what we consider ourselves each and every time we do not further our education, take care of our neighborhoods, and don't become political involve in matters. We are unheard and therefore do not exist and are not valued as having a mind with the ability to be decisive.
A growing and thriving community is one that functions as a whole. When an issue occurs, is the first to have a community open house, and the community actually take the initiative to attend. Hispanics do share that great quality of family and togetherness and African American have a great quality of expression and freedom. With two wonderful ethnic groups both having strengths and weaknesses helps compliment one another very well. To begin this rebirth of unity, an evolution of African American and Hispanic heritage we must reach out to partnering organization such as HBCU, facebook, and myspace to educate our youth. The fastest way to deliver a message is through the web and well known websites where our youth are stationed. When we change the way we think we can change the way we are perceived.
