Colleg Dilemma Posted on 10-20-2004

Okay let me give you my scenario. I am 20 going to this offbeat Tech school. I have been 1 1/2 years. I will be a sophmore if I transfer in the fall. However, my transfer courses some will not transfer out of state. I cant handle goin to a school in South Carolina..just not my standard. I wanna go off..I am lookin at Norfolk, Hampton, or Howard, but I am not sure still searching. But it will be an hbcu school. But I just needed some feedback on do you thing it is lame to be a 21 year old freshman. I mean if I transfer out of stateand the courses dont then I will have to start from scratch. I mean it is a big age gap between 18 and 21. And I dont wanna deal with a bunch of immature kids and especially as a roommate. What do you think?

Well personally I believe regardless of what age you are...if you're trying to do something positive with your life and move forward...it doesn't matter what people think...I would be elated if my grandmother applied to Howard and was my roommate my freshman year...OF COURSE I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO WHAT I WANNA DO but still you get the picture...Age is merely a number that can get you locked up if you're involved with someone under 18...that restrains you from voting until you're 18...and stops you from drinking alcohol legally until you're 21. If you went into the army for 2 years so you could get money for your college education or whatever...then more than likely you could be 20..21 going in as a freshman...it's really not as bad as it seems...as long as you're doing you...it shouldn't matter about anything else...and as far as the roommate thing goes...you could have a roommate that's 25 and just as immature as a 17/18 year old

Actually, I don't think that you have anything to be afraid of. I know some people that are in their 30s and starting fresh. Even stayin in the dorms.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your age and being classified as a freshman. At least you are going to school because I know plenty of people your age who just sit around and would give up if they knew they had to basically start from square one. There is like a 40 year old woman in my Pre-Cal class. And as far as the age gap, you have 21 year olds who act like they are 18 and 18 year olds who act like they are 21. Hopefully you get a roomate who is mature and what not.

I havent chose a major yet. I am lookin at media broadcasting, or music. or computer programmer undecided basically. But I have been taken transfer courses. But a 40 year old living in a dorm...hmm that aint right..But I like Hampton and the dress code thing. And I like Howard and its surrounding and Norfolk also. But someone told me Norfolk was more about partying. But I wanna be out of this tech school by fall of next year.
