NBA REMOVING 3-POINT SHOT?? Posted on 11-12-2004

NEW YORK (AFP) - National Basketball Association 3-point shooters could find their roles diminished if the league adopts a rule change limiting 3-pointers that will be tested this season in its developmental league. The NBA announced here Thursday a rule change for the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) that removes 3-point shots from NBDL games until the last three minutes of each quarter. Overtimes would have 3-pointers throughout. "The NBDL gives us an opportunity to experiment with the rules of the game," NBA senior vice president of operations Stu Jackson said. "With these rule changes in our minor league, we will be able to observe how the game is affected and gather data from an entire basketball league in a season with like rules and similar style." The NBA's Competition Committee studies proposed rule changes before making a recommendation to owners to approve the move or not. Such changes require a two-thirds majority vote of the 30 clubs. What yall think about them possibly removing the 3-Point shot? I think a lot players will be without jobs.

you think people will watch the NBA if they do this? not really  it's bad enough the league **** now.... removing the thing that made it even more popular, the 3pt shot, will just **** the league.... what's Peja or Reggie gonna do then? if they know what's good for them, they'll leave the 3pt line alone

No. no no no no no no NO NO NO GOT DAMMIT NO. We (Huntsville) has an NBDL team. I cant put into words the boredom I come down with when I go to a Huntsville Flight game. The NBA without the 3 point line is like the NFL without extra points and two point conversions.

i wouldnt be upset if they got rid of the 3 ball, but if they gonna get rid of it, get of it completely. you either have 3 pointers or dont have 3 pointers.

Considering the fact that the olympic basketball team went over to athens(correct me if i'm wrong) and got outplayed last summer, this would pretty much do the NBA in. David Stern won't get rid of the 3-ball. Most players in the nba don't have the basic fundamentals of the game. All they do is try to dunk or do a layup. The NBA Lockout is next year if I remember correctly and nobody is gonna care like the NHL if they don't get their stuff together.
