That actually happend to me with my school conseler...I was like I want to go to Clark Atlanta U and she was like is that a black school and I said it's a Historiclly black college and the heffa said "same difference"!!! I was like no the **** didn't......then she says well with your talents and grades you can easily get a full ride to Pepperdine and I was like I don't WANT to go there...then she goes on to babble about how she wants me to get a good education, as if an HBCU was a joke. I got SOOOO heated.....
I feel you....I'm sorry you had to go through that....
that is rude but maybe he was tryng to help so you won't get stuck with bills that you would have to pay for the rest of your life. but just know that if you don't like the ivy school there are other choices. don't worry about it just do what you do and good luck.
Oooh I have had that same experience with my College Counselor back in high school. When we were getting our acceptance letters to colleges, we were supposed to tell them when we finally decided on a school. She knew I wanted to go to either Hampton or FAMU, and from day 1 she tried to persuade me to do otherwise. Needless to say, I told her I got accepted in Hampton and received scholarship and that is where I would be attending. SHe looked at me and said "are you sure you want to do that? Are you sure you want to go there? Have you talked it over with your parents?" I was like b$%^& I wouldn't be standing here telling you that if I hadn't decided to go there and talked to my parents about it. :roll: She really made me angry...I wish people would stop looking down on HBCU's!
Fukk what he said...You should still definitely apply. I was raised to believe and still believe dont always worry about how much a school cost. If you are suppose to go that school, the Lord will get you the money to be there somehow. He knows how to make a way out of no way. Im not syainf money isnt an issue, cause it always is...but dont not apply just because you see how much it costs....But from your responses to what you said to your teacher, its pretty obvious you already know that. :wink:

Ya'll did a hell of a lot better than I did when I was in school. I told my counselor that I wanted to go to WVU and she all but told me that i couldn't get into a school like that. I cussed her **** out so bad they called my cheerleading coach and the principal to come and get me out of her office.
