Man Enough to Admit My Mistake

Man Enough to Admit My Mistake
Posted By: Lonzo Lucas II on April 25, 2009

I apologize to everyone who has red this post because I always believe that one has to experience a situation for themselves before they can make a decision and I failed to practice what I preach. I am currently in Munsan, South Korea my employer Papyong Elementary has shown me the error of my ways. The students and staff here show me so much love that I don't want to come back to America right now that is how deep teachers are respected here.

Think doctor, lawyer that is the level of respect that I get here. My employer makes sure that all of my needs are met. Race is irrelevant here, either you're an outsider or a native what really matters is your country of origin. Americans are welcomed here and if you teach English like I do then you are loved beyond comprehension. My nickname here in South Korea is the "Fourth Dimension," with that being said think about branching out internationally because the world is bigger than America keep that in mind. (Annyong-Ha-Gai-Se-Yo) Goodbye

I understand exactly what you're saying. I'm ex-military and was stationed in Kores twice during my service and the people are great. Education is the top profession in the country. Germany is the same way---teacher get so much respect. Only in America are teachers treated like nothing. Believe me--I know. I was in education for 13 years----teacher; Asst. Principal; Principal------and man--What a job. Love the kids, but dealing with parents was enough to make me let it go and move into the university level. Teaching overseas is GREAT. Keep up the good work.

My advice to anyone who would listen -- especially kids who've never really travelled outside of their city or state, is that the world is so much bigger than the "block" we live on. The sky's the limit when you eliminate artificial barriers that pits "you against the world". Branch out, see the world, experience other cultures (especially the food!!)

I made a goal to myself that I would visit all 50 states before I die and explore at least one country each in Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, Australia and the Caribbean Islands. I'm now 52 and visited 25 states, several Caribbean Islands and Canada. I look forward to the rest of life's adventure!!
