The National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF), a nonprofit organization founded in 1948, is dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for inheritable bleeding disorders and to preventing the complications of these disorders through education, advocacy, and research. NHF seeks research grant applications from any multidisciplinary team member within the federally funded hemophilia treatment center (HTC) network for innovative-investigator research (IIR) projects that demonstrate a commitment to the bleeding disorders community supporting NHF's goal to develop outcomes-related data. Innovative projects that promote the development of novel technologies and/or therapies to advance the field of bleeding disorders research are especially encouraged.

Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must be associated with a federally funded HTC. ALL HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS ARE ELIGIBLE. Interdisciplinary applications are encouraged and strongly supported. United States citizenship is not required, but applicants must be affiliated with or be faculty members of a federally funded HTC. Only non-commercial institutions and investigators associated with a non-commercial institution are eligible to apply for this award. The NHF's IIR grantee is expected to remain at their HTC (institution) for the duration of the project. Letters of support from appropriate officials (ex: candidate's HTC supervisor/leadership, department chair, and institution's financial grants/contracts officer) indicating the institution’s commitment to allow the candidate to focus his/her efforts on the stated research project will be required.

Funding
NHF will award up to $60,000 annually for a period of 12 to 18 months.

Scope of Research
NHF is interested in funding innovative research studies around bleeding disorders. All IIR research proposals are subjected to a rigorous peer-review process. Applications will be reviewed on scientific merit and scored in terms of project significance, scientific approach, innovation, investigator qualifications, and institutional environment.

Deadlines
All interested candidates can request an application by emailing Joie Willis, Research Grants Administrator at jwillis@hemophilia.org.
Applications that are incomplete or do not arrive by the deadline will not be accepted.
Applications will be evaluated by a select NHF Research Review Committee based upon the received applications. The Committee will make recommendations to NHF where the final decision will be determined.

Inquiries
Inquiries for NHF Research Grant & Fellowship Programs, including written request for NHF's Research Grant Policies will be addressed by Samantha Carlson, LMSW, Sr. Manager of Research Programs & Partnerships, at scarlson@hemophilia.org.
