Why should African Americans and Hispanic- Americans in the United States work together as minorities to address political, cultural, communication issues? But the real question is why don’t we work together? We are what they like to call a “minority majority.” This basically means that we were of unnoticeable numbers until today, where the majority is the minority and vice-versa, the minority is the majority. This alone should strike motivation and spark change because we as African Americans and Hispanics can and do have untapped political power during elections and in times of state and national crises. Like the saying, “there’s strength in numbers” ,clearly issues like a poor misrepresentation of the minority and other races in both the Senate and House of Representatives. The GIS allows states to create districts with very precise political and demographic characteristics, but this redistricting is more motivated by cultural and ethnic populations which is biased and unfair. This shouldn’t be a “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” situation, because these issues affect all Americans, but more directly the minorities. Issues like American capitalism taking advantage of Mexican immigrants to maximize profits, higher prison rate for African-American males. These issues don’t only affect our respective cultures, they affect our basic rights guaranteed in the Constitution and affect all Americans as a whole. On the basis of communication, No language that is not English should be neglected, this means any and every language should be made available through translators ate voting booths and during primary and secondary elections. Better voting awareness would also be advisable, like regularly televised bulletins or shows that encourage the impact and right we as Americans have to affect the society in ways that aren’t always known. This is why minority youth ages 18-25 are misrepresented because they don’t vote. But how can we strengthen the ties between us? Rid the secular stereotypes and premonitions that linger within the society, eliminate the present-day gangs called “cliques” which tend to have racist tendencies, remove biased practices in education, the workforce, and in the community. What this means is that things like hiring procedures, incorrect reprimand at the workplace,& racial tolerance in all aspects. Why, because African-Americans and Hispanics have been disadvantaged throughout history, and we don’t need to exhibit those vile deeds and emotions to each other, nor allow these injustices to plague someone else. Historically Black Colleges and Universities should continue to support the needs of African-Americans because they were obviously founded on some of the roots of Black culture and these beliefs are and will continue to strive even in the future. This does not mean to neglect others, but to fairly accommodate those who qualify for whatever they’ve earned. How we are to **** this problem isn’t a easy issue to diagnose. These schools must continue a level of decorum and equality that is something that is still questionable even in today’s society. As the population continues to grow, we as an American people and as human beings must still exhibit equality joined with a comfortable environment.
