How can we unite through segregation?
The United States is becoming more and more diversified over time, while integrating all the cultures that it contains. It is not easy for the government itself to implement integration plans across the country when different races and cultures can not seem to unite themselves. This era is in dire need of politcal action among all of the races to really make a difference. African Americans and Hispanics are constantly regarded to the same categories when it comes to social status and community involvement. These two races have worked independently over time through specific organizations to make immense differences in our ways of life. It is time to integrate these two groups and make an even larger difference. Instead of forming organizations that promote only African American issues or Hispanic issues there must be a median that can include both together. All across the United States are universities that contain several African American organizations and various Mexican American clubs. This forms a disunion among races and even more segregation across campus. Universities need to create groups where both races come together and form an even stronger union since a lot of our issues are similar. Instead of fighting for the same issues seperately we can join forces and become successful organizations. Many minority based schools include a large Hispanic and African American population. Segregation begins here in small classrooms and continues in college where there are many opportunities for change. If these powerful groups join together they can affect their communities greatly ... first by number then by influence. Organizations can double their size and strength which will lead to their power over important issues. Displaying diversity through integration will help our communities out and our political power. Showing that we can get along and make a large difference together will increase leadership skills and boost job opportunities. Historically Black College & Universities need to continue to support the needs of African American Students while also creating room for Hispanic students. It is difficult to find hispanic collges in the United States, so many of these students lack the opportunity to ascend from their communities. African American and Hispanic cultures grow hand in hand in similar parts of the country. Providing a pathway for these groups will define their skills as leaders and help them become successful. Simply having a college for one race will not do. These two races will not magically come together in the working world, they must be motivated while attending college. Bringing latinos and blacks together would create prospective futures and well preparedness for our careers. This creates less desparity and an easier transition to the real world. African American and Hispanics needs are important and similar to each other. They have been considered the minority for decades, however their numbers and strong and their infuence even stronger. These universities provide hope and opportunity for these successful groups. They have the intelligence they just need the opportunity to exhalt it through college. Ultimately the strength of African Americans and Hispanics can only be achieved through assimilation and integration. This can be done through University organizations, clubs, sports, and in minority based Colleges. Placing these two groups together will arise the realization that they are similar in needs and goals and can address pertinent issues together when given the opportunity.
