African American & Hispanic Unity Posted on 04-05-2007

African American and Hispanic people in the US should come together, politically, culturally to communicate their needs because as a group each has little influence in this country today. And History has shown that together one loud voice instead of separate ignored voices can accomplish the need for necessary sought after changes that both groups need. As an African- American I have watched both groups from the time of my arrival in the, United States, struggle to achieve their independent goals. Each group year by year has been promised inclusion and better opportunities in their everyday lives only to have promises broken once the politician they voted for has won office. I believe that by working together, essentially becoming one voice, both groups would benefit largely personally, politically, and in their communities since both groups deal with the same issues on a daily basis. To strengthen the relationship is a simple thing. Each group’s political representative should take the initiative to address the other’s reps, locally and in congress. Communication needs to begin in the leadership of a people and what better way to begin a union than to speak not only for your race when addressing issues, but to speak amicably for the other group as well. Again we deal with the same racial and community issues on a daily basis, which would make things easier since we could share ideas of how to deal with things the other has seen. And in doing so, it would create a stronger bond for children who grow up seeing both groups collaborating so closely as one people. Historically Black Colleges and Universities Should continue to support the needs of Africa-American, Hispanic, And afro-hispanic population in the US because our children and children’s children will continue to support them in the future. They are the building block for our higher education. And a main stay for our cultures youth. By supporting those needs they also support themselves, because in providing that support they ensure that people of those races will be more open to look at a campus where they can be among their own people, also creating a sense of pride to know that these universities of their own backing is available to them.
