African-Americans and Hispanics African-Americans have gone through a lot all throughout history. They’ve gone from slavery to racism and then finally to equality and freedom. African-Americans have fought hard and stood by their beliefs until the battle was won. Hispanics have also suffered racism and injustices, but in the past years it has gotten really bad. Immigration has been going around taking any Hispanic they see to prison. Immigration has even barged into the homes of Hispanic-American citizens homes, thinking that they were illegal immigrants. The U.S. government has crossed the line and it’s time that we do something. It’s time for African-Americans and Hispanics to unite. A way to strengthen the relationship between African-Americans and Hispanics is by choosing the right president in the 2008 elections. We need more people like Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez. People like that made a huge impact in the way African-Americans and Hispanics are treated. But recently with the Bush administration it seems as if all the hard work of both Dr. King and Mr. Chavez has been forgotten. Racism still exists and the government isn’t doing anything about it. They just turn their cheek and look the other way. It’s time for change and the only man who seems perfect for that job is Barack Obama. He will definitely improve our living conditions here in the U.S. Obama would be the perfect president because he would make sure that both African-Americans and Hispanics get treated fairly. A new democratic president will run the country smoother. By voting for Obama, African-Americans and Hispanics will have something in common. We will all have the same goal which is to make sure that Obama gets into the White House. The relationship will also strengthen because with him as president we will no longer be seen as minorities but as Americans. Just because our skin color is different doesn’t mean that we should be considered anything other than Americans. Another way to strengthen the relationship between African-Americans and Hispanics is by getting to know each others cultures. What a better way to get to know someone than by understanding how we all grew up and what we believe in. by getting to know one another’s beliefs, we all may realize things that we have in common. It’s just like when you’re first getting to know someone, you first talk to that person and overtime you get to know those persons beliefs, likes and dislikes, and their religion. That is exactly what African-Americans and Hispanics should do. We should all get together and get to know one another’s cultures. By getting to know each other’s cultures, we will accomplish another way to strengthen our relationship. We should all spend more time together and we will soon start getting along very well. A very good idea would be to form clubs all around the United States just for African-Americans and Hispanics. The club would consist of games and fun. It would be a place for interaction and entertainment. We would all start making new friends and really strengthening the relationship among us all. In conclusion, many things can be done to strengthen the relationship between African-Americans and Hispanics. The three ways that I listed were getting to know each others cultures, choosing a right president, and most importantly getting to know one another personally. A lot would be accomplished if African-Americans and Hispanics united forces. We would be able to change the United States for the better.
