Justin Gabriel-Gershon Oliver May 17, 2007"African American & Hispanic Unity"EssayQ. Why should African Americans and Hispanics in the United States work together as minorities to address political, cultural, communication, and community issues? A. WeAfrican Americans and Hispanic Americans in the United States should work together as minorities to address political, cultural, communication, and community issues because, there are a lot of issues from the African American culture that Hispanics are currently going through. Racism, prejudice both at jobs- home- and in politics have plagued minorities, and threaten us that it won’t stop anytime soon. We must fight for every part of our freedom. Together we could accomplish more as a whole than we ever could as singular units. Right now the work force is making millions off of our struggle. The government constantly plays games with are well being just so that they can make a quick dollar. They never really think about how they hurt us, they just offer us two evils and force us to pick which one we could deal with more. If we were to lift the veils from off our eyes and see that we are one and the same we as a group of concerned people could stop what American has built it’s very foundation off of, repression. If we learn how to communicate with each other better, we would be well on our way to a brighter future!Q. What can be done to strengthen the relationship between the African American and Hispanic communities living within the United States? A. The only thing that can strengthen the relationships between the African American and Hispanic communities living within the United States is clear and sound communication. In order for us to strengthen the relationship we do have between our cultures we must find our mid point. A mid point where we all have seen devastating events happen, and then start, not try, but start to make a difference by helping each other out. We shouldn’t just help each other out when we need help because we always need help. We should just help each other out; in the way we teach, in the way we speak, in the way we eat, in the way we care, in the way we grow from painful experiences, we should just help.Q. How and why should Historically Black College & Universities continue to support the needs of African American Students and possibly the needs of the growing Hispanic (and Afro-Hispanic) population in the United States?A. Historically Black College & Universities should continue to support the needs of African American Students and hopefully the needs of the growing Hispanic (and Afro-Hispanic) population in the United States because the Hispanic community is going through some of the same painful events that we as African Americans have went through. If we as African Americans do not help other in need of it why should we get help? We can’t sit here within the walls of America and just watch on as another culture has to go through some of the painful events that we went through if we know that it is, was, and will always be a struggle to get out of. The Historically Black College & Universities should welcome all with open arms and help others to succeed at something so difficult so that we can make a difference for the better. To close the door on someone who is struggling when you can help, is to take away any blessing which are to come from our own selves! In conclusion I believe we all, not just African Americans and Hispanic Americans, but all minorities should help each other out just to show the world how it’s suppose to be done. By doing this we will shine even brighter than we hoped and that in turn will allow others to shine just as bright if not brighter! Thank you for listening.
