African-Americans and Hispanics in the United States face many of the same political, cultural, communication, and community issues. They should work together as minorities in order to come up with more effective solutions to the problems they face. Once they come together, they will have a greater voice. It is much better to have a large united group than be divided into factions. If they are divided then it is unlikely that they will come to a real solution to the things they face.
The novel and movie The Freedom Writers is a perfect example of the problems African-American and Hispanic minorities face. There is clearly a need for better communication between both groups as well as the need to put the hate and discontent towards each other aside. One of the biggest problems with minorities is their tendency to think that their group is the only one being oppressed. All minorities are oppressed. Once they realize that they are all in the same boat, it will be easier to help each other.
With the effort of both groups, there is a lot that can be done to help each other. There are many outreach programs, workshops, and groups that can be created in order to unite both groups and promote education. There are often many barriers that minorities face and it is destroying these barriers that will help them succeed as individuals as well as a group. Such barriers include discrimination and lack of political representation. If both groups were to combat this together by joining forces and exercising their right to vote, they would be able to have more political representation. Even in a diverse society, the majority of people in power are white. This doesn’t reflect the minorities that are living in the United States and as a result, many of their needs are unmet. There isn’t anyone who represents them. If Hispanics and African-Americans created a group to work on solving this issue, it would strengthen the relationship between the African American and Hispanic communities living within the United States.
Historically Black College & Universities should continue to support the needs of African American Students and the needs of the growing Hispanic population in the United States by giving more opportunities, scholarships, and resources to students of these minorities. They should work on expanding their aid to as many students as they can. In the long run, this help and support will provide minority students with the ability to be contributing members of society by giving them a sense of empowerment. They will have more opportunities to follow their dreams and make a difference in their lives as well as their community.
Both cultures are alike in that they have a lot of pride and are deeply rooted to their ancestors. Both groups also face gang **** and poverty. These are issues that also affect their communities. If they both work towards ending gang **** then there will be more love and respect for each other. They should have pride in honoring their ancestors and making a difference in their community. They should work towards a common cause of ending poverty and creating an atmosphere that is safe for all members of their community.
The problems these groups face are not impossible to solve. It is only a question of when they are going to realize that they can do something about it.
