African American and Hispanics are the largest minority groups in the United States. This fact should give us the strength to stick together and work as one for our rights. Unfortunately because we are minorities, our goals are harder to achieve as a community but if we work together as one solid group we can move further. We can come close to our dreams in life and more doors will open for our future.I believe that fact that organizations like HBCU and the UNCF exist, eases African Americans and Hispanics to get to know each other more and become a family. I think that more organizations should be formed to help all of us that are minorities in such cities where Hispanics and African Americans are in less population.It would be a great idea to create a festival for African Americans and Hispanics where we could get to meet other people in our same situations and where we could share and exchange ideas. At this festival we could also raise funds to help African Americans and Hispanics with low income to pursue different goals like going back to school or putting a small business. Also educate them about saving for the future, and the importance of having a career.The support of HBCU and UNCF organizations offering scholarships has helped many undergraduate and graduate students to finish their careers. It’s very possible that without their help many students would have not been able to finish their education. This is the main reason why these types of organizations should continue to help students that have the need and a goal in life. By offering this type of help there are many new professionals every year and hopefully this number keeps rising. Milagros Cornejo
