Surviving Our Black Community Unity and commitment is vital for the survival of the black community. Without unity, how can we accomplish anything? Seeing one successful black member of the community is not nearly enough to portray a great community; however seeing this one individual help thousands more and the 1,000 or more people succeed, then shall our community become whole. Without communication or commitment how can we be combined, and how can we learn? Looking at other races such as Asians, Chicano Latinos, Caucasians, etc, I see them as a stronger community because they talk, and joke, and laugh with one another not just to be seen by the world or noticed, but in discretely help one another as mother Teresa helped her people. She was not a hypocrite showing the world her accomplishments. It seems as if some races know what is going on outside the world rather than inside the world. It seems that the majority of some races yearn to learn not only about themselves but also about others. Some are able to help their community and still contribute to others, and doing this and having connections as a group produces a much stronger socio-economic community. It is important for our race to become involved so we can be happy about the future of our race rather than blaming the hardships of our ancestral past. To comprehend, and experience our natural identity and as well as other identities, will help show a strong black community.
Another example of a strong community is from the bible. Groups of men were working together building a tower called Babel, which means confusion. These men had unity, commitment, and communication. They were on one accord, working together to reach heaven. The example of such unity shows much accomplishment, because they were so close in their minds to get there. Of course, it was interrupted by the will of God. Generations and Generations ago our race was scarred from being a group, now we are stuck in the system of private and individual lives, and not willing to save our friends, and family.
Online social networking is a very big step to saving our community. Many black Americans love to socialize, especially while using new technology such as new cell phones, “up beat” websites like face book, my space, which are on various college campuses. Anything can be accomplished on college campuses. Groups can be formed such as websites, financial, or non-profit organizations, or anything we can use to help get our people off the streets. Each network, HBCU Connect, Facebook, and more, will aid the community by informing everyone about the outside world or group events involving teamwork or self-discipline. Each one could provide financial assistance such as this network with this scholarship. This HBCU network provides hope and opportunity for members of the community, helping others to succeed and to one day pull his or her brother or sister out of financial trouble. Using these communication and commitment systems is again a great way to help the black community.
