I believe that togetherness is the key in any soluting for living in peace. In this world, being a minority is not the easiest carefree life. Being an African American, you have to struggle on a day to day basis to achieve what you want in life. The same struggle exists in that of a Hispanic person. It is because of our similarities that we should work together as one. Many times, the minority gets ignored when it comes to political issues. Our voices often go unheard as Black Americans. If we combined our voices with the Hispanic community, it would be extremely hard to ignore. We would take a much stronger political stand, and be able to help with the idea and decision making process of the government. A lot of times, we come from the same sort of places. Poverty exists in both forms, but once again, we can work to bring our communities up to kingdoms. We can make change.
If it is a stronger bond that we are looking for, then all we have to do is to listen. If we listen to the Hispanic community, then we might see that they want change and progress too. We can hear them out, and hear their ideas so that we can better the community as a whole. We need to see them as our peers. We need to realize that although different in many ways, deep down the similarities are strong. We need to sympathize with them. Get an understanding of the losses they have endured and the troubles they are experiencing. I'm sure that they have extreme respect for us and all that we have overcome.
When it comes to an education, I know first hand how hard it is to succeed. It seems without money, you cannot achieve anything. You have to work extremely hard, and never stop working to get by. That is why it is so great that there are Historical Black Colleges and Universities. These are places for black people to shine and show how intelligent and successful they are. I am the first person in my family to go to college. I am from a low income home. My mother is a single mother of four, and my financial situation is not worthy of paying for my education. That is why I must work for every cent I have. Paying for college myself is difficult, and I'm sure that many African American students are going through the same thing. I'm sure that this situation also exists in the Hispanic Community. This is why the these Colleges and Universities should support the needs of the growing Hispanic population in the United States. An education, I believe, is the most important thing in someone's life. So any opportunity to give support to a student's schooling should be taken advantage of.
