Should African Americans and Hispanics in the United State converge together? Posted on 05-31-2007

Yes, I believe African American and Hispanics in the United States should converge together to address certain issues; issues which pertain to them. In today's society African Americans and Hipanics are considered minorities and because of that they have to deal with community, communication, and political issues. The only way for them to propertly address these issues and make a change would be to come together as one in order to be heard. One person cannot make a change they can only make noise, but a group of people can make a noise which has no choice but to be heard. In order for African Americans and Hispanics to come together as one, they have to build a strong foundations which in other words, means have a strong relationship with each other. There are many ways to strengthen the relationships between the two ethnicities which include: activities, special gatherings, within the school systems, events made specially for them, and etc.. They have to realize that they are with each other and not against each. They also have to come to the fact that by coming together they are actually helping others but mainly themselves much more than they expect. Historically Black Colleges & Universities should continue to help and support the needs of African Americans because they have the least help out of any ethnic group as it is. Also if the Black Colleges & Universities helps demises there would be no means of support for blacks, and the number of blacks attending colleges would decrease dramatically. Also they should expand their service by aiding the growing population of Hispanics who are in desperate need of help. Statistically, Hispanics have the least amount of participants attending or even getting excepted to colleges in the Unite States. This is not due to a lack of want, this is due to a lack of knowledge and help given to them. The United States is based on freedom and equal opportunity, and by aiding the "minorities" as much as possible, we as people are making sure that everyone has a equal chance at success.
