THE ESSENCE OF DIVERSITY
The human body is formed by different components. Each member cannot be divided or separated without damaging its essence. The result of such thing will cause the end of life, due to the different functions of every member that are combined to maintain the human body alive. Nevertheless, no organ or system in the body has the absolute control or domain of the others, and cannot function correctly without any other. The same way the body cannot undergo through alterations without destroying it, society cannot suffer damages in its very simple essence; the human race. Like the nature of the body, society is formed by many different races. Each one is distinguished by their history background and way of living that were developed from lifetime experiences through the ages of time. Also in that history, we’ve seen how the different races had faced one another and combine with each other breaking with the rock of the difference and developing the harmony of the sand. This created an evolution in today’s society, diversity. Each human being is different from one another, especially when it comes to their way of thinking. Imagine a world where everybody thinks the same way. What kind of diversity we’ll have? More than likely – will there be a difference between humans? I can imagine a society without purpose or meaning; consequently, no society at all. This will make anyone feel that part of feeling alive is to be able to be different and show it for. Furthermore, recognize the difference of another and to be recognized for being different. That just will spice up the live of any human in this world. To dive even more deeply, imagine the outcome of combining every difference. For example music, technology, and communications that now a day are incredible, without having overcome all the differences yet. Imagine the harmony that human society will achieve if we rise above all of them. Sadly, there is one barrier that has always hit us back on every lifetime, listen. It is through listening that we can understand, accept, and respect what others think. Ironically, it is the path that will lead everyone to be listened. As a blessing, there have being persons that have being able to accomplished this quality and left their lives as legacy of example to lead everyone else to follow it. For instance, Jesus Christ, the great master of all mankind that hears, understands, and teaches us the path of life. In American history we have Abraham Lincoln, who gave his life to abolish slavery. Following this line, we find Martin Luther King, form African-American heritage, which defended the rights of the African-American society in United States. From Hispanic society we can find many others, but I which to mentioned Luis Muñoz Marín who lead the American society to understand the Puerto Rican society. Each one of these persons have something in common, that no matter where you come from, society you belong to, or in what time you lived or live in we are all humans that feel, suffer, think, perform, and are part of the human race that we all belong to. They are a low tone voice that goes into our minds and make us listen and follow it little by little to be together as one society with the harmony of diversity and the power to fulfill the very basic essence that put us as equal, the human race. Still there are plenty of people that are completely ignorant in this matter, but it is the responsibility of the ones that are conscious about it to expose them with this legacy that very little have lived and everybody else are just passing through life without really living it. otoledo
