African Americans and Hispanics should work together for the common good of all men. Although African Americans and Hispanics are considered the minorities especially in areas essential to society such as political culture, communication and community issues. Both know first hand the results of a neglected, divided and a under educated community. We have fought through slavery, stood up for equal rights and we are now faced with the responsibility to continue to make positive changes in our lives and the lives of generations to come. There is a lot of our history that is deeply marinated in pain and that is a pain that we can not change, But we have today and we are in positions that originated from people who sacrificed their lives for the injustice of a people. There is a lot of talk of how African Americans treat their own, how we use the word ****** to address one another and how Black women are degraded and humiliated. Talk of how many in the Hispanic community are illegal immigrants and how they are not compliant with the drinking and driving laws ,how the communication barrier is causing frustration among many who feel that its unfair that they do not learn to speak the English language. To say that these are lies we will be lying to ourselves. to say that some races are treated better than others and do not face such harsh criticism could not be further from the truth, but lets try to focus on results and the results lie in unity and truth. We must get real with ourselves, we don't have to pledge it to the world but we and our Hispanic sisters and brothers have some work to do. We are intelligent, powerful and very important to this nation and until we believe that and treat ourselves with respect and dignity no one else will do so. Our strength is within the knowledge that we are a people who deserve better and although equality is like a foreign language to many of us if our ancestors, civil rights leaders and others saw the injustice and believed that things could be better then why can't we. We are living in their dreams and we will soon have a generation who will live in our dreams or a nightmare. We all have a responsible especially of the African American community not to form a prejudice towards another race. Unity with the Hispanic community with the intentions of success could be nothing short of victorious for both communities in ways that will trickled down through centuries. The question of supporting Blacks and Hispanics Through Historically Black Colleges and Universities is one that has an obvious answer the support of these colleges and universities have transcend beyond the African American community and is a very powerful and vital force that has been the cultivator of many doctors ,lawyers, senators, congressmen and women, inventors and future presidents of the United States. We have an obligation to share this powerful gift of education and to give support across the board making sure that we are true examples of humanity and equality for all.
