Here at one HBCU, Delaware State University, the Marching Band has been banned from playing the Negro National Anthem "Lift Every Voice and Sing" by the President Dr. Allen Sessoms.
This is an OUTRAGE...he changes the school colors, taken out a VERY sacred song for African Americans and he is even proposing to change the school name to University of Delaware Dover.
He has got to stop, we are asking for everyone's support on this matter. We are DEFINITELY not taking this sitting down. This is a time when we must come together.
that's crazy how in the world can he take away a song that's important to our society and then to change the name of the school? I hope y'all can get that straigtned out.
Wassapp cats,
I got a friend that goes up to DSU, so she told me the whole situation. I didn't know he chang'd yalls colors. What did he change 'em to? (That might not have been a bad idea). Kidding. But yah, the whole thing about taking out the anthem and changing the name is quite unacceptable.
P.S. Did yall hear about FAMU's president getting ousted? I dunno, maybe yall can remind him of that or something.
Stay strong folks, and keep ya head up 'bout it. Aight then.
Peace out,
B
Yea I heard that FAMU's president got fired. Effective sometime in December. They also had issues with their internal audit or something like that. I almost went to FAMU though.
Dang that's foul and harsh to our history.
I heard bout FAMU's President he is terminated effictive Jan. 2005. He had a different agenda than what the Board of Trustees had in mind. One of my Parent's close friends is on the board of trustees for FAMU. He is a preacher and if you are Baptist or have heard of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc. than you probably know him. Dr. Holmes his motto is VISA Vision, Intergrity,Structure and Accountability. I just applied to FAMU. He and the Board of Trustees are really big on being accountable.
How can you change the school's name?? That's like history...damn shawty im sorry for that. Maybe you and the student body should protest...are you allowed to do that???
