This is the second time the 41-year-old singer has sought treatment in just over a year. In March 2004, Houston entered rehab for substance abuse. In 1999 Houston's mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, staged an intervention, but Whitney refused treatment. "I said, 'Mommy, you've raised me with the love, and with God. Now if I can't make it with you and with the love of God, I'm not putting my life in someone else's hands,'" Houston told Sawyer, adding that she had worked through her problems with prayer. Last month, Houston became ill on a flight to Paris and was rushed to a hospital after a bout of apparent food poisoning.
