TEACHER TABOO Posted on 11-20-2004

One of my professors is real cool, everyone like’s him—he’s funny, down to earth, cares about his students, etc. He’s not that old for a college professor (probably around 30)—he dresses like us (us meaning students), talks like us, cracks jokes on us and everything else. Thing is, he’s kinda a flirt, and at first I paid him no mind. But him calling me “beautiful” and “sweetie” eventually turned into “my boo” and “love of my life” which a couple of my friends in the class started picking up on too. Amongst other things, he told one of my friends (playfully though) I went out on a date with him and what a great time we had together. I looked at the whole thing as an inside joke until one night, at a campus event, he introduced me as his girlfriend to one of his friends . Afterward he laughed, gave me a hug, and whispered that he was just “messin wit me,” which is why this is confusing. I don’t wanna blow the whole thing outta proportion but who really calls his student his girl in public like that? Am I overreacting in thinking this is deeper than a joke? Have you ever been in a similar experience, if so how did u handle it? Have you ever dated/ had a relationship with a teacher, or know of anyone who has?

Girl gon and get that A+ But for real it is kinda unethical to date a professor but I can honestly say that if my fine **** Entreprenuership professor asks me out I might say yes. He is in his late 20's early 30's and dresses so well. He got a cute lil baby face. Anybody that go to Hampton and is a business major might know who I'm talking about.

^^lol, girl u crazy.^^ c, that's the thing-- i AM getting an A, but its cuz im smart and know my shynt! but yea, he's the kind of teacher that calls out grades on the exams and stuff like that in front of the whole class, so the whole class knows i have one of the highest grades in the class. This is the main reason im worried cuz there's sum folks already hatin, so if they ever were to ovehear him callin me "his boo".... oh boy...

too tru 2 the poster of the thread - particularly if he just keeps singling U out... i could see if he made these same extreme references to and/or about other students...but to just single YOU out with this stuff... yeah...he ain't "just messin" but like DHam said....just beeeeeeeee carrrrrreful... i wouldn't try 2 get @ a professor, but whateva floatz ya boat...if u want 2, that's u...but if u DON'T want to....just be careful of certain situations where it's just the two of you... his "interest" in you might run deeper than u think *checks 2 see what'z on Lifetime*

 Yeah, that does sound like something they'd have on there. But I do agree with the other posters: Your teacher wants more than a teacher-student relationship.

I know this girl at school who say that one of the instructors be flirting with her, but then she is always callin his phone (he gave all the cadets his cell number, boys and girls, in case of an emergency.) Then the other day she was like she should start flirting with him because he has money since he was in the military. Mind you, this man has to be in his late 30's early 40's and she is only 18. She is actually the one trying to get him caught up. Student-teacher relationships should stay exactly that: student and teacher relationships!

^^^This is on point. The professor has crossed the line. I'd lay low until after the grading period. Then, if the unwanted advances (they are unwanted aren't they?) continue, I'd let him know how his forwardness is affecting you and you want it stopped.
